    Detroit Lockers with Selectrac

With a DTT in the front using 2wd will not be like full time 4x4. There is still zero drive to the front axle, so whether you have an LSD up there or not makes no difference to your forward drive traction. The DTT really should have no effect at all when in 2wd mode.

    Detroit Lockers with Selectrac

Please note that with a helical (DTT) style locker you won't get any lock up on if one tire on the axle with the DTT is in the air. I would imagine this will be limiting for rock crawling type off-roading, but not a problem on flatter ground. From KMP Drivetrain: "Please note that the wheel...

    Cv shaft angles after lift.

Love the factory airbox relocation! Haha! The proportions of the thing in the side shot are really cool actually. Super short overhangs front and rear and mega tire showing. What are you planning to do for fenders once you get a bumper rigged up?

    High fuel consumption

The XJ was 700Lbs lighter than the KJ, so that probably is what did it. Couple that with the fact that Jeep didn't move to a 5 or 6 speed auto transmission, plus they didn't add any advanced engine technologies like variable valve timing or variable intakes, etc to the engines it is no surprise...

    High fuel consumption

A US gallon is 3.8L and a UK gallon is 4.4L. That's a big difference when looking at MPG. I'm getting about 12-14mpg in the city. Keeping your foot out of it can make a 10-20% difference in fuel economy. If you live somewhere with really heinous traffic like I do getting mileage like you see...

Survey on AT tires being used

I've got a set of Nokian Rotiiva AT in 245/70R16 and they have not been impressive. The grip in the rain is really quite bad. My Fiance nearly spun the KJ on an offramp last year. They are acceptable for the infrequent snow we get here in Vancouver, but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone. The...

    4wd lever loose, easy fix?

I'd guess you've got this fixed already, but if not this is what I did on my first KJ that was missing the bushing for the cable to transfer case lever. You can either fabricate or buy a bushing to fit the T-case lever to the cable end. Digression- (Just get under the vehicle with some calipers...

    Wheel hub camber shims

How do the shims in your first post interact with the eccentric bolts of the LCA? I don't see how those would fit with the eccentric bolts, so they are maybe mounted to the knuckle in some way?

    H&R Spring Review

I knew these H&Rs felt stiff! Makes sense though. There are three ways to get more height 1. Stiffer springs of the same length. 2. Longer springs, same rate. 3. Move the upper mounting point down/away from the body. The last two might cause coil bind depending on the spring and mounting...

    H&R Spring Review

World's slowest replay here, but no there is no issue with the coil contacting the upper arm.

Help me choose a tire size (TJ MOAB Rims)

JeepinSteve- What are your wheel specs? Do you ever have any issues with brake caliper to rim clearance?

    Word censorship?

It seems to me that deleting the entire list and just putting every sailors favourite four letter words on it. Leave it at that. Seems easier to put down a list of bad words that come to the top of your mind rather than pick through a list of words that seems to be thousands of words long. Mods...

    KJ 2.4L longevity

Hi Danakin, how are you liking the 4 cylinder KJ now that you've had it for a while? Any limitations imposed by the small engine? How is the fuel economy?

    H&R Spring Review

Hi Erskine, I think us Canadians in this thread have been cursed with the same problem: OME springs cost a fortune outside of the USA. If you aren't running oversized tires or extended length rear shocks you won't need to change anything in regards to your bump stops. I'm using 245/70R16 tires...

AT3 tires- destroyed in just over a year!

Johnny how many miles did you get out of the AT3s? Have they worn evenly?

    Gas mileage

I've averaged 14L/100km (16.5mpg) over the last year and a half. Most of that is driving in Vancouver, BC, which is VERY congested and slow. Think San Fransisco type traffic. Like LFHoward I use Fuelly to track my fuel economy. It is a pretty informative tool I think as you get a history of your...

1st Time Lifter, Nervous! 2002 Limited

Bilstein 24-139175 are standard length rear shocks for a KJ and the hardware is a direct fit. Another option to consider before placing your order. Are you planning to stick with stock/near stock tires for the foreseeable future? Or will you be going to a larger (eg 245/75r16) tire in the future?

    H&R Spring Review

It's fine around town. The KJ didn't really ride that well to start with (solid rear axle can only do so much), so springs that feel 10% stiffer don't make a huge difference in the grand scheme of things. As far as I know the OME springs also achieve their mission of raising ride height by...

    H&R Spring Review

Time for an update on my H&R springs. My ride height is now at 20.25" in the front and 20.5" in the rear. So, there is certainly some settling that has taken place. The fact that the spring rates are stiffer than factory still bothers me and it is noticeable over any sort of rough terrain. On...

bad clunk over bumps following front bilstein install

Very ingenious method of diagnosis! Good to know you solved it. Nothing to do with the shocks topping out after all then. Does the handling feel different before and after the spacers?
