You can find sets of 16" stock alloys pretty much everywhere but 16" AT tires are starting to become more rare. Just so you know, stock 16" alloys weigh about 21-22lbs (according to my scale) and the 245/75/16s weight somewhere in the 34-37lbs range. So all in all, you'd save a few pounds by...
Mopar is always a decent option, napa premium is typically the same fare you get on Rockauto but gets rebranded. Though, you get to see/touch before you buy. IMO anything with a lifetime warranty or long term warranty should be selected.
I don't know how you got such lift out of the 927 springs: Mine was sitting at 20.25" after installing. I had to add top spacers and a clevis lift to get a total of 2.5" of lift. My up/down travel seems pretty good at the moment, not significantly different than stock. *shrug*
Well finished the detours and warn winch install. Front end dropped another 1/2”, around 20 1/4” now. Rear sitting at 21 1/4”
Installed 3/8” top cap spacer and moved the clevis to the lowest full engagement position possible on the shock, about 1/4” lower than the stop. Now sitting at 21 1/4”...
Just an update. Installed 926 medium coils on the front of my early KJ - not as much lift as I was hoping. Measured at 20" after a bit of settling. Only about 3/4" higher than my stock springs with 3/8" spacer. Loved the ride though - very plush and seemed to articulate very well. Nose dive...
I’ve installed the light 947 rear springs and I get about 21.25”. According to arb, The light springs are the same length as the heavy ones just a slightly lower rate. Which means, the 948 Would give you maybe 1/2 to 3/4” more clearance and a stiffer ride.
I had 926 front coils installed along...
More information on available KJ lift kits.
BDS Suspension lift kit has an unique method of lifting that I find interesting. For the fronts they use a combination of taller/longer upper strut mount and a lift spring. Supposedly the longer mount preloads (compresses) the spring and gives the...
It’s subtle, but at least for my rig, noticeable right after install. Now I barely even think about it/notice it.
It makes sense because even without the tc engaged, the front dtt is trying to balance the turning of both wheels. So now when turning you have twice the wheels to turn and to...
Really. So what’s the difference between prelowered and lowered kjs? The springs, like you’ve said on this forum many times before. Everything else is the same.
And yes I’m acutely aware that the rep was reading info from a computer screen. I don’t trust that they have intimate engineering...
In my experience, with the dtt in the front diff the steering is a bit different at all times. The steering is about 10-15% heavier and there’s a stronger steering return to center after turning. After a while of driving it’s not huge but at first it’s noticeable. For those reasons, oem...
That's what ARB lists the springs at - I talked to a live technical specialist at ARB, I didn't make this up or find it on the interwebs. Since ARB makes the OME springs, I trust their information and that's why I posted it on this forum. What might not be right is the OEM spring rates they list...
I just installed OME 926 (M) and 945 (L) on my early KJ and the ride is fairly plush. It feels like it now has slightly firmer but much longer suspension travel. So overall, a great improvement for offroad. Also, as a cheaper and less-stiff alternative to Bilstein shocks, I have Rancho RSX5000's...
https://wranglertjforum.com/threads/are-factory-oem-moab-wheels-forged-or-cast.42003/
This is a thread from tj rubicon owners. Their opinion is that they are cast, but I’d still leave some room that somewhere forged tj rubicon Moab wheels exist, just not the majority. Maybe they’re wrong? Tom...
That's why I subtracted the wheel lip (1/2") to get to the wheel bead. And actually everyone seems to measure out to the edge of the wheel lip, except you. Just google it.
Anyways, it's really for other people's benefit because I'm not changing the offset on my rig. I was just trying to be a...
I don't think so. When I bought mine I called OX directly and they gave me a discount instead of going through a distributor (i.e. Summit Racing, etc.). Anyways, they're good guys and almost always answer the phone/email. I've abused mine a couple times and it works perfectly. I did have to make...
