Possible but seems unlikely. I had stock hd but aftermarket replacement uca.
There’s a big note under “tips” by jba to open the pocket up. Just like you guys I thought - nah not a problem. But it was, oh it was. And ya 2” box metal would have been ideal tool for the job but I didnt have that...
Hi all. Just installed jba uca on my kj and found a few minor fitment issues that you all should be aware-of. The jba bushings are a little more than 1/8” wider than stock uca bushings and therefore you have much less wiggle room inside the frame mounting pocket. Jba manual say to expand the...
FYI gotta use the 4wd ball joint tool not regular otherwise won’t fit. I got mine out by taking the entire control arm off and then using a sledge with socket to pound the old one out and to them to get new one in. If only I had know about the 4wd ball joint tool at the time I would have used...
I’ve been running cooper ats4s for a few years. Great all round tire. Outside of ice and mud it grips everything really well and also cruises nicely. What I don’t like is that they took a fair amount of weight to balance which normally not an indication of quality qa/qv. Some hwy noise but...
Ya I know Tom, but reading over all the posts from the last 10 years i couldn’t figure out if I would have to replace the sleeve or what. So I posted this as a definitive answer. Hopefully you I’ll get bugged less about this now.
I have select trac and dtt up front and e locker in rear. If I were to do again, just dtt all way round - like Tom. The dtt is that good.
But, I did/do notice some differences with front dtt. Even in 2wd in tight turns aka U turns or parking lot maneuvers you’ll hear tire scrubbing due to the...
Weird because I almost always use full time and never part time. It might be THE most useful feature on a 4x4 kj. Ft=awd pt=4wd. And in that sense I use ft in slushy winters conditions which often alternate between dry pavement and full ice. Can’t effectively use pt or 2wd for those conditions -...
Ya well, not being polite works only if the other person is polite. Otherwise you go straight to a slugging contest, right? And then we’re no better than a vw forum.
Clearance from uca to spring in rebound/downward motion is improved by 100% with jba uca according to them. Otherwise you get binding. I was referring to the inner tire hitting the uca.
Well... that's not really true. The KJ is a pretty great (stealth) true 4x4. It has some unique technical components and shouldn't be considered disposable.
But the thing with TOM is that he's kinda the sole moderator and keeps thing active on a couple forums, so you try doing that for a few...
You can fit up to 265/70 on a 7" rim, that's not the issue. The issue is rubbing on the inside AND clearance to the upper control arm. Without wheel spacers or a wheel with less offset, going to 245 is about the widest you can safely go.
Yes, but there's no mount for the rear sway bar. I know you and probably others will say it's not necessary but leave that to the OP's discretion. you can also get adjustable rear control arms (with sway bar mount) from Ironrock offroad. For what you get, I think the price is very reasonable.
Hello All. I've been way from the forum for a while, but recently I went offroading with my 2002 KJ and that experience highlighted a few outstanding issues I have... which led me to this. Installing longer rear shocks.
I know that Bilstein and OME makes KJ specific longer shocks, but at 2022's...
Originally wanted a wj but didn’t have room in my garage, kJ was a little shorter and my wife said it was cute. So begrudgingly I found a decent 02 limited with select trac tc and a rebuilt engine/trans.
And then I had to fix the po’s mistakes/short cuts, replace suspension, ac, belts...
