Po said it was replaced at 100k but I'd like to know for sure. He said the dealership left the drainplug out and engine seized right away so they put a new one in. I did a carfax on it and it does show an oil change around that mileage and then some repairs done at a dealership. It doesn't...
I did the typical 45 slow to near stop but no stop several times then high speed slow down with no stop a couple times, let cool, etc. I have the exact procedure written down at home that I always use. I helped did the brakes and break in. I've seen the same method outlined on here and other...
Brakes were properly broken in. They are new rotors and pads, about 1500 miles or less. They feel nice and smooth until you really need to get on them from like a hiway speed. The steering wheel really shakes. I'll have to pull them all off and take them to a shop to see how they are on the...
Would you feel in the steering wheel only the front rotor warpage? Would rear rotor warpage be felt in the steering wheel? When I hit the brakes hard after they've heated up, the steering wheel shakes and you can feel something is warped. Front pads and rotors are new but rears are a few years...
I've had good luck either power stop evolution pads and rotor kits. I think the stop much better than stock. That's what's going on my car this week.
Proper break in is important as stated before. I can't believe the difference it makes.
It's the least rusted original cj I've seen. It has some but an easily repairable amount. It looks good enough I'd drive it like it is for a year or 2 before I'd do anything. It's really a nice jeep for an old cj. Anything I can get around here is super rusty or way too expensive. I've had many...
It's a cj. My Libby is an '02. It has some rust but not bad. It's from a friend and I've driven it many times. It looks good as is and is pretty original. I can't just drive it back (would be my first choice) it runs, drives, etc and is dependable but it's an old jeep and has no top that I know of.
So. It's unbelievable but I was just offered a cj for free. Yep a pretty nice cj for free. No strings attached. All I have to do is pick it up, 2000 miles away. So that leads me to my question, how many miles on the odo is too many before you retire it from long journeys?
It's an 02 with 3.7...
I just had rotors turned at O'reillys and they came back warped. I knew I should have just put new ones on instead of turning. I think brake parts are more r&r nowdays. Especially considering their importance. I'd just bight the bullet and do it all at once.
Thanks for the help guys. I figured it out quite quickly today. It is the cv joint at the transfer case that I just replace a month a two ago. It ticks me off I got a bad joint and have to replace it again, but at least it shouldn't cost me anything. They better warranty it anyway. It didn't...
I replaced the driveshaft cv at the t case a month or so ago and that looks good. Sounds more like front right wheel area but the cv boot at the right front wheel has no rips in it.
So I drove it on the highway and all was well. I parked it in the driveway and the wife just went to go somewhere. She pulled it out and didn't go far after she heard a noise. I went out to check it and drove it a couple hundred yards. It's making a clicking and grinding sound from what sounds...
Is it something that needs to be done by a professional? I know changing gearing pretty much does but don't know what all goes into installing a locker or limited slip. I'm guessing it all has to come apart making it a job for a pro but I've known people that have done them themselves.
