I may need a bigger car.

Yeah, a roof rack is in the plan. The problem is budget right now. First I need the new springs/shocks, followed very soon with new tires and alignment. Last weekend I installed the hitch. This morning it was the new radiator fan ( it arrived from Rock Auto early this morning ). But that swap...

I may need a bigger car.

Or a wife that knows how to pack light. We went to spend a couple of days at the cabin. Two people, two dogs, two inflatable kayaks, bedding, airbed, synthesizers, multi-track recorders, fishing gear, life jackets, food, clothes, rain gear, etc. It's kind of amazing what creative packing...

    Radiator Fan Troubleshooting

I have one on order from RockAuto. I chose the one with a picture of the same connector / 3-wire motor that I have. About $65.00 after shipping.

    Radiator Fan Troubleshooting

I played with it some more. I'm convinced it's a heat problem with the motor. When it's cool, the motor runs fine. If I heat it up, nothing. I got it up to temp and ran power straight to the motor. Where's a good place to get one? Autozone has one for $180, PartsTrain $140, Local Chrysler...

    Radiator Fan Troubleshooting

Some more troubleshooting and now I believe that the fan motor is at fault. I got the temp up over 200 degrees F and saw the motor running. It shut down around 210 degrees and then did not restart as the temp climbed again. I could measure power at the connector but still no spin so I shut off...

    Radiator Fan Troubleshooting

Thanks for that. I just confirmed that the fan does indeed run at low and high speed by jumpering across the NO relay contacts with the relays out. I did not allow the coolant temp to get above 200 degrees F before panicking last night. I just don't like seeing the idiot gauge above 1/2 I...

    Radiator Fan Troubleshooting

I'm looking deeper into Nancy's radiator fan problems. She's an '04 3.7L with only the electric fan. I see that there are two relays. One for high speed, the other for low. The problem is that coolant temp starts to rise when AC is on and speed is low. Idling in the barn with AC on, the fan...

I Love My Wife - and fan fuse question

    <Monty Python> I'm not dead yet. Actually, I feel like going for a walk. </Monty Python> or <Princess Bride> He's not dead dead, he's just mostly dead. </Princess Bride>

I Love My Wife - and fan fuse question

Thank you for the information. I'll check over all the wiring looking for an intermittent short. If I can't find anything obvious, I'll just spring for a new fan motor. It's not very dead as the fuse will last for quite a while and the fan does run when it's needed. So far, so good on the...

I Love My Wife - and fan fuse question

I just love it when Betsy pays attention and learns things. She has started using Nancy ( '04 KJ ) as her daily driver. Today it was 104 degrees F. She was driving in town with the AC on full. She actually noticed that the temp gauge was reading about 3/4 scale and stopped the car in the...

    Anyone have this hitch?

I was lucky there. The welded nuts survived and were still usable, but I worried every 1/4 turn on the way out. I really hate it when I need a long breaker bar like that for more than just breaking the bolts free. Four of the new bolts needed to be threaded in with a wrench due to the nuts...

    Anyone have this hitch?

I got the hitch installed yesterday - I like the way it tucks up under the fake plastic 'bumper' cover so all I can see from the back is the receiver. The old bolts were so rusted in place, it took me almost 2 hours with an 18 inch breaker bar to remove them. Even my el cheapo impact driver...

    Anyone have this hitch?

As a side note; I see that the price has increased to $174 since Monday.

    Anyone have this hitch?

I got the hitch yesterday and it all looks good so far. Ordered on Monday and arrived on Thursday - not bad. We're pretty far off the beaten path here. For the light adapter, this one does want to get power straight from the battery according to it's instructions. It does want to pick up signal...

Your scariest moments driving your Liberty.

Well we just recently bought Nancy - just about 1 month ago. We've only added about 3500 miles so far, so I haven't got much in the way of scary yet. Probably the most interesting was the ride home immediately after buying her. Worrying about every little noise and the possibility that she...

    Anyone have this hitch?

I just can't believe that splicing in a couple of diodes and two extra light bulbs will cause any harm to the BCM. (Why do I even need a BCM?). Leave it to Chrysler to complicate the simple act of lighting a bulb. I'll let you know after I get mine installed.

Pole barns = Toy Boxes for old boys. My wife is finally coming around to believing that.

    Where do you park?

I built a 2400 square foot barn/garage with the idea that we could keep lots of cars in there. Currently it contains 4 sailboats, 1 power boat, 3 motorcycles, parts of several project cars and about 24 bales of excelsior. I've barely left enough room to get two cars in there at the same time...
