Me and My '05 Limited, Riding On Air

Yeah, I have spent a LOT of hours reading tire reviews and watching video reviews. The Discoverer STT Pros hold up pretty good. The elevation here is between 3 and 7-thousand feet. My home town is about 3,400 ft. Although I had to drive on snow covered roads most of the time yesterday, it's not...

Me and My '05 Limited, Riding On Air

Had to go to Reno today. It was necessary because an extended power outage and particularly nasty weather forced me to use up my huge backup o2 tank (it'll last about 10 or 12 hours, depending on the flow I set it for). The other 2 sizes I have are only good for <3 hours and <30 minutes, so it's...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Two days of driving in snow, mud drifts and through flood areas. The weather has made life difficult for many and even I ended up in the hospital for a few hours (my own stoopid mistake made breathing difficult), so my neighbor got to drive my KJ too. I drove about 60 miles in 4WD today...

What did you do to your jeep today?

You do know that photo is of the backside of the rim, don't you? I purposely kept it a mystery. The rims are about $115.00 each. The TPS' are about 29 each (jeeze!). The tire I ordered is just under 200 bucks and the shop charges 21.50 to mount & balance each one. So, if everything turns out...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I went for a drive in the snow (it's only about a foot thick), starting with blasting through the heavy berm the snow plow piles in front of my driveway. I used to have to shovel a lot of snow (actually, I always had a lot of help), but this time, I only had to make a narrow path to get from my...

    profdlp's 2007 Liberty Project

Well, I certainly know how exciting this can be. I just got a wheel via UPS to test fit. I ordered a single tire from a dealer in Reno (and online) this morning and a new TPS. I lost hours of sleep and burned my eyeballs out reading reviews, watching videos. I haven't felt like this since I...

What tires? I spent most of the weekend looking at so many different tires I got dizzy.

Sad, but it's a fact of life... and death. I hope it's not going to be for a long time (I'm 7+ years past 2 doctors' expectations), but I hope my best friend for the last 40 years will be saying my good-byes for me on all my favorite sites. This is one of them. It just feels like family here...

Careful, one day that will be true. And that "loooooong drive" will be to somewhere I can't take my Jeep with me, if you know what I mean. Now, did I miss responding to something I should have? :fish_h4h:

That's Viglink, which is what the owners of JeepKJ.com uses to monitize links on the site. I use it on my sites too, but I don't have it configured to do that to links because it would piss more members off than it would generate income. Unfortunately, I don't think the site owners even visit...

Ah yes, those were the days. For a few years, way back when, I used to write promotional copy for Exotic Dancer Magazine and spent a lot of time with dancers in the Reno area. At the same time, I was into doing my own computer modding how-tos and tool reviews for pros in the home remodeling...

I will resist the urge to feel insulted. ;) You prob'ly don't know that I spent 35+ years with a tape measure permanently attached to my hip... Even made sure my employees made it a part of their uniform of the day... And I used it dozens of times a day in my work on floor...

Okay, I think I see what you mean by "tags." Here's a photo of the rear spring with a white tag wrapped around a coil. You should be able to see 48 when you view the photo full-size. That's a OME 2948 spring. I didn't see anything like that on the front coils, but maybe the guy who assembled...

When I looked at the springs, I only saw heavy, coiled wire. Nothing hanging off them or sticking to them that I noticed. What is this tag made of? How is it attached? Does anyone have a picture of a coil spring with a tag?

I have no idea what spring tags are or where to find them.

Can you elaborate on that? I had the bushings in the LCAs replaced and there was a lot of difficulty taking out the old ones, especially the strut fork one. The mechanic said he had to cut that one out. All the bushings were replaced with Moog.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Tested my new lift on an abandoned logging road today. Bumpy, muddy, icy and fun as hell. Followed that road to a dead end, almost got stuck and almost ran out of gas. Gotta remember to check that gauge before taking off like that.

Jeez, not more bad news... I took the Jeep on a rough road trip, about 15 or 20 miles. Got stuck on a drainage cut that led up a steep incline for a short time, but made it. Things like that make me think I should have winch on the list of future mods. I was half into the drive when I realized I...
