From what I've seen, the code is not always the problem, more the result. You could also have a bad cam or crank sensor as they direct the ignition. I know this all sounds odd, however I've had cylinder heads with an inch of burnt sludge inside them. The ends of the sensors were also sludged...- keeponjeepin

Run a compression check on all cylinders. I've had 14 '02/03 Liberty's over the last 8 months - all with bad engines. Miles ranged from 90k-170k. Bad "BCM" need help
For $224 dollars US this company http://www.aesmodules.com can refurbish your BCM. I spoke with Kareem today and he's very helpful and knows about the Liberty issues. Otherwise you'd need to find someone with a DRB3 unit that can either re-flash your BCM to factory specs, or locate another BCM...- keeponjeepin

How many miles do the engines go for? 03 kj
I sent you a PM that I have a 56700 mile transmission & transfer case with torque convertor available. Came out of a 03 Sport that was wrecked. No gaurantees but I used the engine in my wife's Liberty - been running great for 6 months. Let me know your thoughts. KeepOnJeep'n- keeponjeepin

Parting Out 2 2002 Liberty's
I'm parting out 2 02 Liberty's One is a Sport - the other a Limited. Both are wrecks 3.7L V6 Automatic 4X4's I bought for the engines. The Limited had only 79000 miles, the Sport 175000. Yes and it would get worse. This is a long shot but check your radiator level. Make sure you look inside the fill tank and fill it up. It could a little low on anti-freeze and when the engine sits the water temp is rising - thus making it run bad until the water starts flowing again, cooling...- keeponjeepin

If you can, run a compression check when the engine's hot. You could have a valve seat and/or a lifter problem - wouldn't send any codes.- keeponjeepin

Second OEM radiator leaking - is there a better aftermarket alternative?
Never noticed any performance or other issues. Had and 04 sport 4x4 with a 5 speed and averaged 22mpg on the hwy and 17 around town. I've bought a dozen 02/03 Liberty's over the last 6 months and each one had a blown engine due to overheating. I've seen what a dropped valve seat causes and it...- keeponjeepin

Key doesn't deactivate alarm.
I have an 02 doing the same. If you lock the doors manually the alarm does not go off. I've tried other fobs but cannot get them to program.- keeponjeepin
