Engine thump/knock?
Hey all, looking for a little help diagnosing a thump/knock sound coming from my 06 3.7 The sound is a distant, deep thump sound that is mostly heard in the 800-1400 rpm range. Towing with a KJ
Towed a 1977 BMW on a double axle car hauling trailer from Oregon to SoCal total of about 950 miles. The load weighed about 4800lbs so it almost maxed out the tow capacity of my poor libby. How long will a typical Jeep Liberty engine last?
110k on my 06 with no issues so far. Though I do have a strange knocking sound at light throttle...but it has not gotten worse/better in 30k miles with 1000miles of towing 5k lbs. I think it's time to clean my PCV thing though, I've lost about 2mpg on the freeway.- KJDevildog

Most common places that leak oil.
mine has developed a few small leaks in the last 20k miles...which is sad because she only has 109k on her. My TC leaks too.... Should probably fix all the leaks before my next deployment so it's in good shape for the wifey.- KJDevildog

Hypertech power programmer.
Anyone seen this? http://www.hypertech.com/products-results.aspx I know that the ECU reflash is supposed to be the only ECU upgrade that rewrites the Chrysler power limiting crap. What about this, any experiences?- KJDevildog

Towing Experiences?
I towed about 5000lbs from Southern Oregon to Southern California, about 970 miles. Load consisted of a 2300lb car on a flatbed car hauling trailer. Before you spend almost $200 on a fuel flush, spend $200 on a FULL tune up. Change your spark plugs, plug wires, air filter, oil/oil filter, and fuel filter. 4: You do want to buy an amp based on the RMS rating of your subs, not the peak. You need to try and match within the upper 75% of the subs rating. IE: The sub can handle 100 RMS you want to get at the very least 75 RMS. This is also going to be subjective to the voltage rating, most amps are...- KJDevildog

What is your average MPG (City) / (HIGHWAY)

Aftermarket exhaust
I can confirm that running 75mph or so returns the best fuel economy. On a few of my 1000mile + road trips I was seeing almost 24mpg with nearly 100k on the engine. Headlight bulb life?
I don't drive in the dark that much, maybe 15 minutes in the morning a few times a week. Going to clean the bulb sockets and go from there.- KJDevildog
