Looking for something new
How about a ZJ with the 4.0? A good 96-98 Grand Cherokee is great in the snow, great off road, comfortable, and cheap to own. They get comparable mileage to a KJ and the 4.0 has plenty of torque for tree stump pulling, etc.- KJDevildog

How long will a typical Jeep Liberty engine last?
about to hit 112000 and haven't replaced anything so far. The only issue's I have are a leaky TC and a strange thumping knocking that I've had for the past 35000 miles.- KJDevildog

WTB rear headrests for 06 sport

ARM vs K&N CAI?
Your best bet would be a B&G ECU tune. You remove your ECU and send it to them (Or send one in from the same year Libby) and they remove the torque management, and tune your ECU for some pretty good gains. Q: towing with a KJ?
You will be fine. I towed a car plus flat trailer (total weight of about 5k) for 980 miles, up quite a few long steep hills. My 06 has the tow package, and I was amazed at how easy the tow was. Keep it at 55-60 and keep the OD locked out.- KJDevildog

New KJ owner! Lots of work :(
Wow, I am surprised you had that much trouble on an 06 with semi-low miles. I bought my 06 with 78k and now at 111k it has given me zero trouble. I'm about due for new shocks, and should probably do some preventive maintenance. Though, my 06 is stock with no lift so no extra stress on components.- KJDevildog

Engine thump/knock?
I understand the difficulty diagnosing a sound over the internet. I am pretty sure it is coming from the bottom end near the back. I can actually feel it in the gas pedal, like a pulse with each thump sound. Edit: Oh, and I run the same Castrol syntec 5w-30 all the time since I bought it. There...- KJDevildog
