AC refrigerant leaking from black tube after being charged

True, as I’ve done a heater core on mine. Not really a pain. Sort of therapeutic if building things out of Legos is a way you relax.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Fixed the drivers rear brake squeak today by replacing those 4 clips that the brake pads slide back and forth in. Now it is dead silent. Love it.

    The BatCar

Love my Scangauge II. It has helped me keep fuel costs down by making me a more efficient driver. It has also diagnosed and cleared engine codes and displayed voltage, coolant temp, and transmission temp (that last one takes some programming). The temperature gauges have been great for wheeling...

    New Keys

That’s a bummer, nbas. Maybe it is an export thing, but there is also a limit to the number of keys that can be programmed using the do-it-yourself procedure. If the previous owners made a lot of keys, that could explain why you are out of luck.

What did you do to your jeep today?

The best price I found was at MoparOriginalParts.com. Still kind of pricey but city driving, trailer towing, and wheeling were making the floor HOT. Part Number Part Name Price Quantity Total 55113276AE Floor Pan Shield $91.57 1 $91.57 6512316AA Stamped Hex Flange Nut $7.50 4...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I rotated the tires today and took a good look at the brakes. The pads are still decently thick and wearing evenly. The squeaking that has been driving me nuts is a missing anti-rattle clip / brake pad slider on the drivers rear inboard brake pad. Not sure what the actual name of this tiny...

What did you do to your jeep today?

I should probably let it drip on a white paper towel to confirm the color of my own bell housing leak. I wiped it off today didn’t pay too much attention, but I thought it was brown like the engine oil.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Nice. That will be worth its weight in a new transmission. 200 lbs? Those things are heavy.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Brand new heat shield installed! Also oil change and tire rotation day. 224116 miles on the odometer. Pic of the shiny new heat shield... I am keeping an eye on the rear main seal leak. It is getting worse but not critical yet. Also the transmission pan is looking pretty crusty and there is...

    Transmission Dies After 1st Gear

This is a bummer. If it is dead, maybe you could swap in a 42RLE with fewer miles on it. If you wouldn’t mind, would you please add your data to this thread? https://www.jeepkj.com/threads/how-long-did-your-42rle-automatic-transmission-last-before-it-blew-up.78374/

NEED 4.56 RING AND PINION FOR MY KJ

This. The KJ front diff will not accept a 4.56 gear set. (The KK will however.)

'03 KJ, NP242 and 45rfe, no forward power except in 4lo.

I would guess it is completely fine. Mine was in a low fluid situation for about 3 days, where it could drive fine unless it was on an incline. Added fluid and no more issues. That was 100k miles ago. You may not have had enough fluid to build pressure to run it, but it sounds like there was...

'03 KJ, NP242 and 45rfe, no forward power except in 4lo.

That’s a little banged up! You might consider one of these if you’re replacing the pan: https://www.cjcoffroad.com/search?q=45rfe

Engine appears to be over heating

Regarding color of coolant: green is typically the “universal” stuff that claims to be compatible with HOAT coolant but will cause problems. Mopar HOAT is a reddish color and Zerex G05 which is also HOAT is an orangish color. I am reading this thread for the first time now and glad you are...

'03 KJ, NP242 and 45rfe, no forward power except in 4lo.

Agreed. I would have the transmission checked. Any chance your transmission fluid was low, so that it sloshed backwards on steep grades and didn’t provide the transmission with the fluid it needed except on the flat? I suggest this because I had a similar issue after a botched fluid change at...

New Tires on my 2008 Liberty Sport 4WD

They will. They’ll look beefier but they aren’t taller than stock. This size is the answer to the “what’s the biggest tire I can run without a lift” question that comes up periodically.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Used Mopar is often better and longer lasting than new aftermarket, in my experience. I am a satisfied car-part.com shopper.

    Nouveau venu ici...

Bienvenue! Welcome to the forum. I don’t speak French but Google Translate is pretty good. I am originally from Vermont, not too far south of you. I also have a 2008 Liberty that I love. How many Km on yours?

What did you do to your jeep today?

Looks like you are lifted high enough so that you won't get any rubbing. 4.5" = NICE
