What overall wheel weight requires regearing?

That's all very interesting and probably accurate, but I think my equation is still a fair question and worth pondering.

What overall wheel weight requires regearing?

If most of the weight being spun were in that outermost half inch of rubber than I would agree that height plays a bigger role.

What overall wheel weight requires regearing?

Alright... I get what you're saying. And I can see the height factoring in... but we're only talking about an inch in diameter difference between 31 vs 32. Which seems pretty minimal. Still seems like it's gotta be mostly about weight.

What overall wheel weight requires regearing?

When choosing to increase the tire size on a kj, I was wondering if anyone had actually calculated what overall rim + tire weight required regearing to avoid problems?? Generally speaking people say with a lift you can run 31" tires without problems, but you should regear if you're going to use...

    32's & 3" lift

I think that measurement might be a little different with renegade fender flairs vs the sport or limited. Most will say they see no difference. But last time I measured the 06 renys vertical curve seemed to be about a half inch longer (top to bottom) down the middle - compared to my friends 07...

    32's & 3" lift

I think mine technically ended up being closer to 3.5" of lift. Which would explain why I seem to have more space in the wheel wells than most. But that space still doesn't help me with the gear issue.

    32's & 3" lift

I know but I look at all that empty space in the wheel well and it's just so damn tempting! Lol

    32's & 3" lift

I don't know if it makes a difference, but the Dick Cepek Extreme Country tires I'm running in the 245/75/16 weigh 42 pounds. The 265/75/16s weigh a more significant 48. And the 235/85/16s I would run weigh in at a lesser 46. And would turning the overdrive off negate regearing?

    32's & 3" lift

What about running a 235/85/16 with a 3inch lift?? It would be a little narrower and lighter. Would you still need to regear? Would there still be any issues with the UCAs/springs, etc? I currently have a 3 lift and I'm running 245/75/16s. After bending the pinch welds and performing some...

    used Jeep Liberty buying advice?

I am not a machanic in any way shape or form, so half of what you said went right over my head. Lol. But I would never buy anything that isn't already running well to begin with. So many things could be wrong with it - you just can't know. Wish i could ease your fears but seems like too big...

    OscarMike/Howard Hughes Liberty Concept

Thanks, I appreciate the love. :-). I'm still very much working on it - it's a massive project. I recently removed the entire center console between the front seats, and then took off all of the silver trim I had already added to it, so that I could give all of the still exposed original...

I'm actually a wildlife artist. Which means I paint, draw, and photograph animals. I do exhibitions and gallery shows across the U.S.A. And I sell mostly originals to private collectors or through galleries. But I do have some older prints on an internet gallery. If you want I could...

    OscarMike/Howard Hughes Liberty Concept

Thanks again. :-). It's very much an evolving project. I only wish I could create as fast with my hands as my minds eye. ;-)

The hood star Here is a nice photo of the Oscar Mike star I made for the hood. I wanted to use the actual Mopar decal for the hood, but i couldn't find a Mopar version in gray/graphite/charcoal color. Also the star made to be offset on the wrangler hood looked a little small centered on my...

    OscarMike/Howard Hughes Liberty Concept

Thanks Bert! I know a lot of what I did is over the top and not practical, but like a lot of jeep concept vehicles, it wasn't meant to be. Lol. But there are always bits and pieces from those concepts that do eventually make it on to other vehicles. I think the impact guards I made with...

I'm glad you really like them. :-). But it would be hard to explain in words and pictures what I did to modify them, and then make them fit perfectly. There was a lot of creative problem solving involved. ;-). It would be easier to show someone in person.
