I think I seen your front receiver on Craigslist before if thats where you were trying to sell it. It should make a great donor hitch for ya and work out if it mounts to the front part of the uni-frame as well. As far as getting together for pics and lil know how, no problem. Just shoot me a...
I did the same on my head lights and what a difference it made. Yeah free steel is awesome, nothing wrong with a lil junk collecting. Thanks for the feedback
Front receiver
I custom built my front receiver because of the fact your talking about, approach angles. Manufactures make theirs bolt on and go so to say which I get but I wanted an all purpose front receiver so I built mine to mount next the uni-frame in the front and trimmed the lower...
Anything over an 8.8 on a Liberty is overkill. Its a Liberty your not going to tow a house or haul a 30 foot RV. Factory Jeeps = 8.8. I use them on my monster Grand Cherokee with 100 pound rear bumper/receiver tire carrier carrying a 75 pound spare tire and have pulled Jeeps/Hummers etc out...
Well I would but I would have to disassemble a part of it all. All I did was buy the round 3 inch lights they have that cost I believe about $19. Where the factory round hole is under the grill portion is where I installed them. Just take the bracket that comes with the lights rotate it down...
Pretty easy to do if you have an imagination. There is one thing now looking back I would have done different and thats bring the bar under the tire up higher to the lower lip of the bumper but I did not have enough scrap steel to make it that high. But have fun with it and see what you can...
Yeah the steel I used is light weight just for that fact you mentioned about the hinge and the mount I build for the axe and shovel will be the same and it will have an adapter for fast removel on and off when not in use or offroading. I build alot of my stuff to be easily removed when not on a...
So I picked up some more lights to mount on my brush guard and wanted to mount the smaller ones I had on my brush guard previously so I removed the grill, cut the louvers out from the grill and fabricated some mounts to mount the smaller lights where the factory had installed lights in some...
Had some time yesterday so I decided to build a license plate mount off my spare tire so I could advertise Jeep al lil more :roflbow: but it also serves as spare tire theft deterrent because its on a slide that I can lock. Gotta love scrap steel laying around. Later I'm going to use this and...
No need for anything more than 8.8, they have more than enough strength. Now if you were attaching a hitch to a F350 that would be a different story. 8.8, your good to go.
I like hidden much better than exposed cross members. As far as clearance issues you do not have to relocate anything. All you would need is an extension, 12 inches like the one that Harbor Freight sells for $19 bucks which is what i have used to clear my spare and that depends on what your...
Weight...cost...and not going rock crawling with my libby, my other Jeep does that plus it serves my purpose for which its intended. It cost me a total of $10.00 to build this one compared to $500.00 for aftermarket rear bumper which I could build one of those for $150-200 just no need. Not...
Just gotta have an imagination of how you want to make something, not be scared to mess up and start somewhere is all it takes. I started years ago because I got tired of paying high dollar prices for someone elses work and I could never get what I wanted in everything that was offered so boom...
Axle brush...nah builds character hahaha. Plate being covered...maybe down the road someday...but in a liberty not known to break any speed records dont know...also can count on one hand how many cops have ever been driving behind me. If by chance then i will relocate the plate and fab a plate...
Finally installed
Finally got my rear hitch guard installed with moded receiver. Everything went together and came out great. I'm my harshest critic and I got everything within a 1/16 of an inch...all angles...tubes...everything so I was quite pleased for once with how it all turned out...
More pics of rear guard
I finally got some spray on my rear bumper guard...bed liner black. Also welded some clevis tabs onto my rear receiver just because I could. It may look strange with 2 receiver tubes but this allows me do add multiple items on the rear and when bolted in looks good...
