Rear Fog Lights
I like the idea of the added red tail light, but I wish the bottom half wasn't red so that I could have true rear fog lights. It seems silly in my opinion to have this wasted red space doing nothing and adding an additional red tail light at least makes it useful. Thanks for the write-up! -

I got my test switches from an 03... and they were not illuminated. I haven't checked an 02, but I'd be surprised if they were different.- djtimyd

Illuminated Power Window & Lock Switches
after following the traces, I have determined that the circuit can indeed support LEDs. Pins 3 and 4 are the 12v power and ground leads. I will need 4 low voltage SMD LEDs and one current limiting resistor. I have found all the parts I need on Mouser.com for about ten bucks. Daimler Chrysler...- djtimyd

Building for the Wife...
FIXED! It was the connector for the wiring harness. Cleaned and bent the pins inward just a bit to force a good connection then smeared some dielectric grease on it to prevent any further corrosion. Next project is the front mudflaps!- djtimyd

Confirmed that it was the wiring harness... well, more to the point, the connector. I wiggled the connections and the one that was giving me fits and starts was the headlight/fog-light harness connection to the engine bay harness. I cleaned the contacts, then bent the pins slightly inward so... -

My XJ has less rust than the KJ does! My issue with the XJ is that I want the front ones so that mud and slush don't build up around my rock rails - but if I leave them on when I go wheeling, any time I come down a rock they just tear right off. What did you do to your jeep today?
Living in Colorado (High Plains Desert) helps a lot too. I have seen lots of rocker rot in the salvage yards but they all had out of state plates. Since this Jeep will only see very mild wheeling, the flaps wont get in the way. My XJ just tears them off - or I should say the rocks I go over tear...- djtimyd

I've encountered a problem with the fog lights. I think I have it narrowed down to the donor wiring harness - but I'll have to take it back out to be sure. I am annoyed that I didn't test this before stuffing the wires inside the jeep. Its much easier to test when I have access to everything...- djtimyd

I love the IKEA instructions!!! :angry94: I was wondering about that - I'm guessing its not the slot they show, rather the slot next to it. I looked in my KJ and there is already a relay in that spot, but next to it on the right there is a blank spot and that is where I thought it should go... -

ooops - forgot to pull the relay when I got all the other stuff... The dash light lights up, but no fogs. That's an easy fix. There is already a fuse in slot 19 so I'm good there. I checked the plug that the wiring harness goes into and it looked like it had all the wires in it that matched up... -
