(newbie) 2.8 CRD questions
I drive a 2.5 CRD (in the UK) and haven't had any problems with it. It's pretty much the same as the 2.8 CRD. The stuff about the EGR doesn't apply to the UK vehicle. Ian- kj lad

Cherokee renaming
I read that DC were going to continue to sell the Cherokee along side the Liberty in North America because they were worried about how the Liberty would be accepted. The Cherokee was such a strong seller that they felt the liberty may not do as well. At the last minute they changed their minds...- kj lad

No we don't have many native Americans over here, but we do know what Cherokees are. You seem to forget that other people are just as passionate about their liberty and are patriots to their own countries. Just becuase those two words make you think of the 'Stars and stripes' doesn't mean it...- kj lad

2.5 CRD Timing Belt
I run a 2.5 CRD but I can't help you because my brother did mine (he's a mechanic) but that's way too much money I'm sure. Ask the dealer if the specs for both timing belts for the 2.5 and 2.8 are the same. I'll look for my receipt for the belt and stuff I bought......... Ian- kj lad

RUST CHECK
I thought you guys meant check for rust! I check under my Jeep just before winter. I drive up onto the ramps, put cardboard under jeep and spray old engine one under it. I then coat the metal parts of the brake lines with grease. I do it to stop the salt attack! Ian- kj lad

Post Offroad
If you've been into some serious mud, the front skid plate acts like a scoop and compacts the mud under the engine. Unbolt the skid (take the 2 fronts out and loosen the 2 rear bolts and slide the plate forward) and knock the debris out from under there too. If you don't you could get over...- kj lad

Quick question for you guys.
There are one or two guys who have found 15" wheels that fit over the calipers. You would probably be better off trying to get some 16" instead. Most tyre manufacturers do decent A/T's for 16's. Ian- kj lad

I've offroaded in Landies (Defenders, discos and a bobtailed range rover) and if you could keep up with a defender in a stock KJ, the Landie driver was useless or wasn't pushing is 4x4. Manual Owners
When offroad, my 2.5 CRD manual pulls along at 3mph in 1st, 4lo with no throttle. I've never tried to stall it, but it will! You can start up the Jeep in 1st or reverse in 4lo with no clutch and your Jeep will set off quite happily. In 2hi, I use it in 3rd with no throttle over severe speed...- kj lad

Anyone Running 235/85 16 BFG at or mt????
Very common size for Landies. The defender comes with 235/85 r16s as standard. Not many 4x4's are as capable offroad! Ian- kj lad
