What did you do to your jeep today?

I think he did something custom or got the tri-link extension for the rear, takes the place of that whole POS rear factory UCA setup. I got tired of looking at this everyday so I decided to do something about it finally: End Result: I can do a write up if anyone wants, I...

    Lift ideas and general questions

I had some time today, I cut the rust out of the outer rockers and did trimming for clearance in all 4 wheel wells without taking out any uniframe meat. Passenger side inner rocker was in bad shape too so I had to improvise. No more rubbing whatsoever, rust treated in the process. More clearance...

    Lift ideas and general questions

I totally understand all of that, but to me a wider stance looks better. I guess it boils down to preference, but probably doesn't hurt the stability either. Think about using a ladder; the further up you go, the further out you go with your base. KJs are top heavy enough as it is, and we got a...

    Lift ideas and general questions

I didn't want to convey the idea that I was having problems out of it, a little rubbing never hurt nobody :happy175: Most importantly, I wanted a wider stance with the lift. Stock wheels don't stick out enough.

    Lift ideas and general questions

With 3.5 inches of lift and say, 265/75/16s (31.7"), you'll probably still be rubbing at the pinch welds with new tires, especially ones with aggressive tread, even with proper wheel backspacing. If you got the factory bumper/dust covers they'll probably rub the heck out of that too, but it...

    32's & 3" lift

To the OP..... With OME lift, .5 clevis spacer rings in front and two extra upper spring isolators in the rear, I clear 265/75/16s on an 8" wide wheel. Pound your pinch welds as much as you can, might as well lose the front dust covers too and undercoat/bedline your wheel wells. Be prepared...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Ironically enough I worked on my valve covers today too, but I was just tightening them down. I changed gaskets out a year or so ago, I needed to snug them up. Those rearward nuts/bolts are quite tough aren't they lol I used U-joint extensions and such but on that last one passenger side I...

    Custom Front Bumper

Okay, I finally have something worth posting some pics of. It's not finished yet but I got a few coats of paint on the done parts. The steel plate is 3/16" I'm waiting on my tax return to get some LED turn signal/markers to replace those chunky factory units. Next I'm going to make some brackets...

    whats the difference?

"Wrangler. Liberty. Grand Cherokee. Definition: Trail Rated signifies that the vehicles have passed off road testing by the Nevada Automotive Test Center (NATC) — which evaluates vehicles for traction, ground clearance, off road articulation, maneuverability, and water fording." Front Drive shaft length

I second CzarKJ's opinion, I bought that very same CV joint from that very same website. It's the rearward CV on the front prop shaft that usually goes bad. Mine sounded like santa's sleigh before I changed it out lol. It'd be a good idea to buy or borrow some snap ring pliers for the job too...

    Top spacer plate question

I put the .500" clevis spacer from JBA with the 927s up front and so far no problems. It was to match height with the two extra isos in the rear. I'm replacing my LCA/steering rack bushings soon so I might order new CVs, have a buddy machine them down for me, and do the top plates while I'm at...

    Lift on high mileage KJ?

If it's mechanically sound engine and transmission wise I'd go for it. That factory suspension at 180k has long since been shot, you'll be amazed at how much better your KJ corners when you lift it. Just do yourself a favor and replace your lower ball joints with the Moog ones with the grease...

What did you do to your jeep today?

My setup will invariably be different from yours because of said basket but I'm sure good ideas can be shared. Things to keep in mind though, are rod handle diameter and reel type. I use nothing but open faced spinning setups, and I didn't account for how short the reel foot is on a baitcaster...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Tomorrow I'll throw it on and take pics, no fishing around here yet. Last year was the beta run and it held up well. It's actually made out of some 2 x 4s and 1 x 4s that I spanned across the factory roof rails and zip-tied in. I used 1.25" and 1.5" diameter PVC schedule 80, a hinge, hasp, a...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Installed new Strong Arm hood lift props, swapped rear rotors/pads and changed PB shoes. Finally fixed front passenger window reg after two years of it being blocked up. Swapped out power window module. Been sitting on the install for my 927s/948s and 90009s/60069s since black friday last year...

    EVIC 4th Wire Help

Update/Bump. I tried the new sensor today, a Chrysler factory one. Still nothing. I remember reading somewhere that only EVICs from 04' KJs will work in 04' KJs as far as the temperature is concerned. Can anybody else vouch for this? If so, does anyone have the model numbers for the 04' KJ...

    Left rear window failed!

The Steiger kits are the way to go; factory windows and the repair kits still use the plastic corkscrew on the window mounting plate that the regulator cable goes through. Most of the time, this plastic corkscrew is what breaks, and the Steiger parts replace the whole plastic plate with a steel...

    High mileage club

04' w/ 190k. In the middle of a huge overhaul, but at the end of the repair phase. New tires, replaced both rear calipers, new pads all way round, pried out the dent from a WJ on KJ rear collision to my tailgate, replaced the grill support and grill from a whitetail mauling and added aluminum...
