Now that you say it that does to me too - I had a tractor that did something similar and it had a bad spot in the armature. But that starter was 40 years old with a life time of hard use.
I have a 2005 with a 3.7 engine. With the replacement of the engine a new problem has cropped up. Occasionally the starter will not engage the fly wheel, the solenoid clicks and nothing happens.
Most of the time (99%) it works just like it is supposed to, once in the while it will just...
After the engine was replaced in mine within a couple thousand miles the upstream oxygen sensors shot craps. Nothing like spending several thousand dollars on the vehicle only to have the check engine light pop on.
Engine #1 I averaged about 18 MPG per tank with mixed driving.
Engine #2 0
Engine #3 I averaged about 17 MPG per tank mixed driving.
Engine #4 I currently average about 16 MPG per tank of mixed driving.
All 3.7
How did you come to that conclusion?
The actual machine shop work shouldn't be that expensive, around a few hundred per head. The problem is getting to the point and are you going to replace the timing chains, tensioners and sprockets? Even at a decent "cheap" shop you are looking at...
You could get one to look like that with a seeping head gasket and 5000 mile oil changes in a year of driving.
Pictures like that show how futile an "engine flush" is once sludge has built up.
What is "funny" is that now that it is somewhat apart after checking the head gaskets a...
The 42RLE transmission in the Liberty was modified from a FWD transmission used in small and midsized Dodge cars. Its a light duty thing that adding a cooler does not make it a good towing transmission. It was used in the base full size Ram and it is well known for its high failure rate. The...
No, they don't make a "heavy duty transmission" for a Liberty after mid 2003. Even with a tow package I wouldn't use one for towing much, and certainly not in mountains. Others will most definitely tell you differently but that is my opinion based on my experience.
I wouldn't. The transmission in your Liberty is a light duty unit originally designed for small and midsized front wheel drive cars that was modified to be used in RWD. I've seen a lot of Liberties parked due to transmission failures and engine failures.
You probably had issues with the transmission slipping before the fluid was changed - that's why you had the overheating code. Most likely changing the fluid removed the grit that was the last thing that was keeping your clutches working - making it slip even more. Have you had the codes read...
So I bought my Liberty a little less that 2 years ago and it only came with one worn looking key (factory?). I bought two more on line and brought it to the dealer for programming. My wife put the original on her key ring, I used new one and the last new one was a spare. A month ago the...
I've always heard the difference between part time 4X4 and full time 4X4 is that in part time the front and rear axles are mechanically locked at the same speed. Full time 4x4 in the Liberty meant the transfer case acted as a differential between the front and rear axles allowing them to turn...
