I'm sorry but from my point of view, I see no reason to spend 3,000 more for a Jeep just because it has 4X4. For me, It's a waste of money. I'd maybe use it once a year. I think some of you guys don't realize that some of us KJ owners don't off-road all the time.
If you do serious...
"06 and up didn't have limited slips, unless added aftermarket. They have traction control/ESP"
The Traction control acts similar to a limited slip differential.
From the 06 owners manual: "A feature of the TCS system functions similar to a limited slip differential and controls the wheel...
Well I don't know how a 2wd would do in the sand. But I do know from experience, it can do okay in mud. But your gona need good tires such as AT's or MT's. I really like my Yakohama's. What year is your KJ? If it's and 02-05 you might want to invest in a locker. The 06+'s already come with a...
Well at least five people on here have had the issue. There are far from 1.2 million users on this forum. So to me it's a common issue. A Jeep technician I talked to even said it was a common problem.
It shouldn't happen at all.
The same thing happened to me. I was so mad at the time I almost sold my KJ.
It's a common problem and Jeep knows about it. If they didn't make crappy parts we wouldn't be dealing with this bull.
I'm not sure why, but the same happened to me once. Looked down and noticed that gas was all over the side of my jeep and on the ground. Wierd thing is that it didn't click to let me know it was full. That's why I now only fill it up 3/4 of the way.
I've heard that you should get your transmission fliud changed every 30k to be safe. I think It's bull that in the 07 +'s there is no dipstick to check your fluid level. I'm lucky to have an 06.
From what I have heard, changing your oil every 3k will actually cause a lot of wear. As your oil gets older the engine will wear less. But I wouldn't go over 5,000k for an oil change so you engine doesn't build up sludge. jmho
Most Frams are cheaply made crap! I recommend that you use a Purolator classic filter. Thats what I use and it does a great job. Used to hear a lot of noise from my lifters at startup, but ever since I put the classic on I don't hear it.
As for the oil your useing, Castrol is okay. But I...
DANG!!!! I know there is some sludge in my engine because the previous owner didn't take care of it. But I'm sure mine doesn't look that bad. I hope. Been changing my oil every 3,000-4,000 miles since I bought it.
It's showing up the same level hot (5 mins after) and cold. I am also checking it on a flat surface. Yes LibertyTC something goofy is going on here! I just hope my engines not gona blow.
Got a little issue here and I'm not sure what's going on. About every other week I check my engine oil, and untill recently it was always up to the top of the safe mark on my dipstick. A couple of days ago, I did another check, but this time it was about 3/4 of an inch above the top of the safe...
I've heard about that, but have never had a problem with my KJ. I've heard that the 05's are pretty good. And best of all they still have the good window regulators :party52:
I'd go for it thats a VERY good price. I payed 8,000 for my 2wd Kj, and it had 75,000 miles on it when I bought it.
