Fitted new brakes up front, what should have been a 40 min job turned into a 4 hr ordeal because the gorilla who had done the previous work kindly rounded off all the caliper bolts. Unseized the caliper sliders and all good now. Pads were 24 quid, fitting kit a fiver and the disks were a tenner...
I'm over 500 miles in on the upgrade and very happy with it. Every single one of my 'petrol head' mates have said it just looks right now.
The Polish make lots of off road up grades, it's kind of forgotten that the Poles are great engineers. My brother gets a lot of stuff for his Landcruiser...
In addition to trying to solve an infuriating noise from the handbrake assembly/back plate, I'm deciding whether to respray the gawdy chrome grill (05) gloss black or body match the green. Or to leave alone, but it does offend me. Comments on either appreciated.
So the new suspension went on yesterday. Both rears and fronts were uneventful, save that the lower rear shock bolts were fairly corroded tight. Split a socket in two and exploded a ratchet before applying a little heat and they undid like butter. I shall be seeing how good the lifetime...
2005 UK spec CRD (right hand drive) ...
Under a dash flap I have an unused socket, can anyone enlighten me of its purpose please? Is it for the roof light bar option? If it is where do this bit of loom emerge?
I'd like to fit bumper (fender) mounted spots and wondering if this is a wiring option?
All present and correct now. The courier company handling the shocks managed to lose them for ten days. I had a sense of humour failure.
They arrived today. I'm going to do the rears then take to the garage to have the fronts swapped and re-aligned week Wednesday. Will let y'all know the outcome.
I beat my PB of 43.5mpg (Imperial gallons) on my commute to work. I was determined to squeak 44, was traveling south with no headwind, a very light 3/4 mph northerly tail wind and to my surprise clocked 47mpg!! This is in a 05 CRD btw.
Also got very frustrated with the absolutely pathetic...
I really appreciate this review and discussion and as a result have ordered the components for this lift. Here in Great Britain we are really having a financial squeeze put on us this winter, this route may be a compromise but there is so much else I'm having to stock up on before massive price...
Thank you! It seems the internet knows more about the surface of Mars than these bloody connectors. Much appreciated. I assume the o-rings could be found in a multi-box.
It's making the noise intermitently in a straight line at low speed. Rear disks and pads are pretty well shagged so it may be that. Am ordering a set of Brembos to replace. Main worry is a leak from the cooling line 'quick connectors' on the autobox. Can't seem to find out anything about them...
