I was talking to my 02' tonight
Engine Swap From my research, the newer trans has less bolts, 8 instead of 10 where it mounts to the engine. The exhaust system is very different. The computer is different. And something with the frame, is angled, instead of straight, where the trans mounts. I'm not expert, but it seems...- metalmoto

Parting out my 02" Liberty
MY 02' dropped a valve, and the engine is toast. Since bought an 04', and plan to swap over "some" parts. But the rest is for sale cheap, or perhaps free, if you near NE Philly and are willing to remove it yourself. It's in my garage, not much room to work, but you welcome to take it off... -

I just climbed under the 04' tonight. A lot of differences that I did not expect to see... The 02' looks carefully made. But the 04' looks like it was slapped together quickly. Different transmission, or I would of swapped the engine into the 02'. Different exhaust system, that I paid a lot...- metalmoto

I want to keep the original stereo...But?
Since I wrote my first post. My 02' dropped a valve, and trashed the engine. I put $2000 worth of new parts into her. And I didn't want to "give" my Jeep away for $700. That is the best offer I got for it, with a toasted motor. I liked my Liberty so much, I went and bought another one. This one...- metalmoto

Lift Glass Compatibility
I think he just means the hook on the glass has come unglued. Later models have a plastic piece on the outside of the glass, where the window latches. Not sure why... After it quits raining here, I'm going to try putting the rear glass from my 02' on onto 04". I'll let you know if if fits...- metalmoto

Swap rear window glass My 02' blew the engine. I liked the Liberty so much, I went and bought an 04'. All the rear windows have a nice dark factory tint. And I was wondering if all the glass could be swapped into the 04', which doesn't seem to be tinted at all? Sure, the rear flipper glass... -
How long will a typical Jeep Liberty engine last?
Like a few people already said... Don't overheat it! As soon as you notice the temp gauge move much over the halfway mark, pull over! And let it cool off. I had 155,000 on my 02' But I let it overheat a few times, then it dropped a valve. And the engine is trashed. Like you, I fell in love with...- metalmoto

Steering wont self center itself
Just bought an 04' Liberty. And just noticed the steering wheel will not self center itself. Steering wheel turned all the way to the left in a parking lot. This isn't normal, what could be wrong with it?- metalmoto

The build sheet says its a 2004. Sorry my mistake! It has an electric fan, with the larger shroud, unfortunately. On my 02' I could clearly see the PS cooler through the front grill. Perhaps it is there, but moved further to the right, to accommodate the trans cooler? The dealer said it was a...- metalmoto

What should I look for? Once I pull the valve covers, what should I look for? I would think I'd need to pull the head, on the effected side, and see what kind damage has been done? Grabbing brakes
I have the Jeep jacked up, both rear wheels and drums off. And when I pull the E-brake, both front shoes move out. As I they are supposed to do. The left front shoe is still about a quarter inch away from the top pivot, with the E-brake released. So I guess the left E-brake cable needs...- metalmoto

Grabbing brakes
Check your front rubber brake lines If it grabs when turning. I would suspect perhaps your front flex line is twisted, pinched or or needs to be replaced. Both my front rubber lines crumbled and broke apart, when I did my front brakes. They get rusty where the rubber line joins the metal part.- metalmoto

won't start after oil change
I know some cars will not run, without oil pressure. Check oil pressure sensor, perhaps it was clogged from debris in your dirty oil. Try a new oil filter, perhaps you got a bad one. Bypass oil pressure sensor, and see if she will run. But don't run it long, in case the oil is not pumping...- metalmoto

Grabbing brakes
Yes, there is a E-brake cable connection under the center console. Not sure if it can be adjusted there yet. But loosening the star wheel adjuster on the brake shoes helped. The wheel doesn't heat up any more. But now the brake pedal goes farther down before it starts braking. It still feels...- metalmoto
