Just a driveshaft or differential died ?

I watched again. I think I see evidence of grease having leaked out the rear cv in the picture, and I kind of think I see some tears in the boot.

Just a driveshaft or differential died ?

I can barely see the boot on the rear shaft cv, do I see a tear? Also bang the rear up vs just twisting it.

Just a driveshaft or differential died ?

Lets see a picture of the back of that axle. My noise that sounded like the front differential actually came from the back cv on that axle, and that is one that is a wear item, not the front.

    OEM Floor mats

WeatherTech up front are great. Give a good look at the back ones before buying. Got a set for our Jeep Patriot and after a year throw away in the trash the rear. They fit perfectly width wise but were not deep enough for anyone but a toddler's size foot. Total crap. For our 06 Liberty the...

    Needing brakes

I have had good luck with a full set of powerstops for the Jeep -- non drilled version. I put them on a couple of years ago and have been very satisfied. Also, good luck with them on an Odyssey and Pilot in the front, and their factory rotors are super prone to warp. My buddy who drives the...

    Brake getting hot

How do the parking brake pads look on the inside of the rotor? Could they be seized or the spring broke causing friction?

    How does my shaft look

Yes sir! I put about a mm film of good grease on both sides of the intermediate shaft and also in the female end of the CV axle. The intermediate shaft cv axle joint was bone dry with a little surface rust. I oiled up the o ring too, hoping it helps keep the grease in there.

    How does my shaft look

Ok ... it was the rear cv on the front drive shaft. I read all those posts about the intermediate shaft and having just put a new cv on the drive shaft, I ASSUMED! I did try several things before taking apart the front end, spinning wheels jacked not-jacked, one wheel on ground in 4 hi...

    How does my shaft look

Thanks, I will give the heat shield a good look when I put it back together and look to remove the front shaft. I know I have messed around with the starter heat shield a couple of times when cleaning up the wires and when replacing the starter.

    How does my shaft look

I had pulled a rear CV off a new detroit axle drive shaft I found on craigslist and put it on my front drive shaft, so I kind of assume its all good. I guess the test is to take it out and drive without it? The old one the boot was torn up good but made no noise. I grad the thing turn and...

    How does my shaft look

I have been trying to chase down a noise. It starts after driving a short while and sounds like a click or thump the speed of the wheel. Seems to be passengers side. It gets loud enough that after while I fear something will lock up. I hear it if in 4 high or not, in neutral or in gear...

    2006 new owner questions?

Biff, Beach Jeep -- love it. Catch a wave for us Biff. Hey, it is probably not the oil pan gasket leaking, its more likely the front main seal.
