Rocky Road OTT "budget lift" :(

A fix for your lift might be a little difficult because of your overseas location. You might want to try and contact ARB http://www.arb.com.au/contact_exports.php http://www.arbusa.com/contact_us.php They have offices and dealers located all over the world. If you can find a dealer then...

Rocky Road OTT "budget lift" :(

BS, tons of people have e-mailed RRO and get the same reply. Just do a search over on the lost board. RRO is well aware of the problems, but every time someone complains that act like the never heard of it and it is probably something wrong with your Jeep. There are MUCH better kits on the...

    Auto Trans dying?

It's probably normal. Rember you are driving a truck not a car and there will always be more noise, drive line slack, etc than most cars.

New Frankenlift Need Wheels To Complement

Yes, quite common. However it is quite expensive.. around 1000+ dollars. Honestly with only an upgrade from 29" to 31" tires it is really not necessary. For most people it is a small difference and not worth the money. If you where going larger than 31" then a gear swap becomes more...

    rusty's strut spacer lift ?

Just search and look aroud for OTT. There are tons of problems with it. Stay away from it along with the RRO OTT, etc.

Rocky Road OTT "budget lift" :(

I'm sure it could. However, one of the reasons for the new top plate is to prevent relieve some of the strut pretension caused when you throw the spacer in there. I'm really not sure how it would effect ride quality. You might want to try and call Daystar. If you can call over to the...

Rocky Road OTT "budget lift" :(

Exactly. The different top-plate lowers the mounting point for the strut piston, increasing the length of the strut assembly. See the picture below. This is actually a picture of a frankenlift strut assembly, that incorporates a daystar 1.5" spacer, daystar top plate, and other hardware.

Rocky Road OTT "budget lift" :(

The Daystar kit uses an in-strut spacer along with a different top plate. The top plate moves the upper mounting location for the strut down further. This would typically result in the contact. However, they have a little red bump stop that prevent that is strapped on to the spacer to prevent...

Rocky Road OTT "budget lift" :(

No, its actually quite different. A in-strut spacer does NOT lengthen the strut assembly in any way. Just think about it how droop is affect. The strut is what limits droop, if you put an extension on the bottom (or spacer on the top) it increase the strut assembly's effective length. The...

Rocky Road OTT "budget lift" :(

A strut extension or OTT spacer that is only about 1/4-1/2" will not cause the problems. It does not lengthen the strut assembly enough to make to cause problems. So using a small OTT spacer and an in-strut spacer will not cause the problems. An in-strut spacer does not length the strut...

Rocky Road OTT "budget lift" :(

Are you sure the spacer went inside the strut assembly? According to their website and install instructions, it is listed as a billet aluminum strut extension. From the install instructions it looks like it is a spacer/extension that slip on the bottom of the strut...

Re: Rocky Road OTT "budget lift" Yeah right :( ogfalcon, is correct. Certain types of spacer in the front cause problems. The OTT kit cause the same problems over and over again. Exactly the same design as tera-flex, and Rusty's spacer. It's acceptable if you don't want to offroad and...

    more HP

Honestly if it was 10hp I don't think it would be bad. A recent issue of 4-wheel drive and sport utility magazine installed a cold intake and Magnaflow cat-back on a KJ. The ran before and after dyno tests and only netted extra 3 Hp.

New Frankenlift Need Wheels To Complement

245/75R16 is what most people run on a lifted Jeep. You can put them on the stock rims. If you get new rims stick with 16x8" w/ 5" backspacing. Jeep Rubicon wheel and tires seem to be popular. They are a 245/75R16 Goodyear MTR on a 16x8" w/ 5" backspacing aluminum rim.

Spacer Lift will be your doom!

There are set and forget lifts. I know first hand Rusty's and OME are both set and forget. I've installed 3 Rusty's and have experience with 2 OME lifts and none of them had UBJ contact. I didn't think the BDS lift would have UBJ contact so I revised my previous post. But for a quick look...

HOW TO: Change Transfer Case Fluid

The, transmission can be quite picky. Alot of people confused the two since they sound similar are are right next to each other. The t-case is nothing more than a set of gears that directs power to the two drive shafts with a low range. Not much more than a differential. An automatic...

HOW TO: Change Transfer Case Fluid

These t-cases doesnt have any clutch pack or solenoids like the transmission so ATF+4 is not really necessary. You can use any high-quality ATF or synchromesh fluid. ATF+4 is a good synthetic fluid, but was just specified for continuity in dealer servicing. I replaced mine with a synthetic...

Spacer Lift will be your doom!

Good point. The Frankenlift is a good kit but has a few issues. High quality parts, but due to it height (yes they all say 2.5" but its more like a almost 3.5" for most) and different top plate you run into some issues. They can be addressed rather easily if you understand the suspension...

Spacer Lift will be your doom!

Actually that is incorrect. When the suspension droops the upper a-arm falls into the spring. It needs to be stopped from drooping so far. In stock form the strut is what prevent the suspension from drooping so far that UBJ contact is made. The max extension of the strut is what prevents...
