Thats true I'm sure some of the more aggressive A/Ts will do acceptable in light mud. Infact, my destination A/Ts did fine in light mud and most other terrain. It's just once the mud get thick they where useless.
Also check out the Cooper S/Ts. They come in a 245/70R17 size which is almost...
Honestly, if you are looking for mud performance even a good A/T doesnt make much of a difference over street tires. You need some M/Ts or the most aggressive tire you can live with. My Destination A/Ts are barely more effective than the street tires that came on my KJ when offroad. The...
Interesting. Both Napa and Advanced Auto both list the same 160 amp alternator for an 03 and 05. Just for the fun of it I called Jeep. Same 160 amp alternator for both. It list 02-06 for the years. However, Napa and Jeep lists a different 136 amp alternator for 05 vs 03, but advanced lists...
I've crossed countless streams, that where almost at the hood line and not once have I had a problem. Plus there are other count less people that wheel their KJ across deep creeks and streams and no one has ever reported a problem.
I've also wheel with people in an 05 and 06 KJ through...

Just to clarify. Rusty's rear shock are not the greats. However in the front, he uses Old Man Emu (OME) struts, with the OME name covered by a Rusty's Sticker. The OME struts are very high quality.
The ESP/Traction control doesn't do much. At least it didn't with moose last time we where out in Livingston. His two tires just kept spinning and spinning on on obstacle. It seems as if the wheel needed to be spinning for a good 2-3 seconds before the traction control started to kick in...
Most of use run 245/75R16. Its about 1.5" taller than stock. Its only about 5% larger than stock. You could run a 255/70R16 which is only about 1" bigger than stock and like 3% larger.
I don't feel it sap too much power at all. I hardly noticed a difference, but some people notice a huge...
Rusty's lift gives you about 2.5" The Frankenlift give you about 3-3.25". However, that all depends on how height your KJ sits from the factory since they all seem to very in height quite a bit from the factory. The Frankenlift will definitely give you a good 1/2-3/4" higher than Rusty's...
I doubt the tires are you problem. 235/70R16 is what came stock on my KJ.
If you are turning in 4wd you could be experiencing some wheel hop due to driveline binding.
Here is another lengthy discussion about OTT lifts. Rusty's spacer lift is an OTT lift just like RockyRoad's OTT.
