rear shock question?
I suppose 80000 Km are hard on shocks. They show strange behaviours when ageing, some technicians say they are still OK whereas the user is getting poor performances.. so, listen to your feelings and if they say 'change', go ahead. rear shock question?
Mileage (or Kms..) of th KJ? Five years? Any oil leak from the shocks? Already chaged mine. Unmount the suspect and take a closer look. It's only two bolts. Should it need replacing, change both.- diyman

I Simply could not take it any more!
Nice idea :) To improve it You might cut the mat around the mouldings, thus trying to make it look like OE. Keeps Your knee a bit warmer too, particularly during cold weather, I guess!- diyman

First time the KJ has been out of commision-
Kick Him, why kick him....???!!!! In these situation a stick-shift would come of hand. Just pretend battery is dead and let him push the vehicle ( 1st gear and hand brake on :icon_twisted::happy175:) About the OP, it's a bit of a PITA but nothing that can't be solved properly...- diyman

x2 I use the same 'device' but keep on calling the method 'turkey baster'.... good for diffs as well! (A bit frightening though :eek: still after removing the neddle!!!!) On mine duct is a 10'' outer sleeve stripped from a TV coax-cable :D BTW, about the OP, noise might well come...- diyman

Ehm,.... as strange as it seems, for some MYs, or setups/export, don't know, factory fill was MS-5931 Power Steering Fluid ( Mopar ), neither ATF+4 NOR the other Power Steering Fluid (MS-10838) which some Grand Cherokees use. I know the FSM states ATF+4, but my MY '06 uses MS-5931. I'm sure...- diyman

2004 KJ Rear End Thump
I'm beginning to think this is a KJ's common issue. If everything seems ok, I'd not loose sleep... If nothing is known about maintenance history, I'd drop the tranny, change transfer and diffs fluids, just in case... Also, stock U/joints are non-greasable, I don't like them... Never ever driven on constantly dusty roads??? Jeep recomends air filter change every 12-15k...In my situation going beyond 5-6k is asking for trouble! Sand and dust DO pass through any air filter ( tommudd surely knows....) and guess where will they be ending !!! Yeah , oil. I was a fan...- diyman

Good point, my fault for giving no explanation.... sorry. If the technician had not been careful while doing his job ( We are just guessing...) he might have bent/scratched the pan lips, and, given the tight tolerances of the (PITA) trans pan, leaking might occour. Then options are either...- diyman

:( I guess You'll have to drop the damn pan again. I've heard that torqueing bolts is useless and a bit dangerous... Anyway, while You are at it, why not buy a new pan, afaik it's not an expensive item. Again, it sucks but, if it wasn't for the precious fluid, not such terrible thing. Do...- diyman

having diff fluids changed got???s
They just want YOU to loose sleep ....:D Unless You treat Your KJ so bad ( someone would say ... properly) no need for 75W-140, it's thick and would add additional 'drag', particularly in the cold season. Just IMHO. PS : I use 80W/90,GL-5 dino, but I do get it cheap...- diyman

Something is wrong here...
Even though I really hope this ain't the case, excessive pistons blow-by? This would increase the amount of lubricant ( by adding fuel to it, thus making it thinner) fix-up wouldn't be cheap I guess... and probably would cause emission issues as well. But again, just a thought.... I'm sure I'm...- diyman

ESP/BAS ABS problem liberty 2006 4x4
I still maintain it's a cabling issue!!! I might be wrong anyway, but once I spotted a bunch of cables TOO CLOSE to the transmission pan, who knows, maybe... Will be working to fix that. Even connectors on the ABS side do play up sometimes... Man, if it just was for the dirty oil, it ought...- diyman

I bet You solved the problem by changing the tensioner, try to salvage whatever part You can from the old unit, or keep it should an an emergency occour, You never know...
