    Jack,Scissor,Bottle,HighLift or What?

2x to the above! :) I'd also use the strongest bottle jack that still fits under the chassis / axle ( 6-8 t maybe? ) Don't forget a rag, only rocks are allowed to scratch the underbody :D

    New Belt - No AC

Sorry to hear that! :( An A/C compressor is something I'd really like to stash as a spare part, but hey, what a price  Sad part is, You'll have to swap more parts other than compressor itself.....

Can you change to synthetic with over 100k miles?

IMHO, nowadays true syn oils are quite rare.... We should be talking about 'better than avg.' oils instead. Also any thin (5W/20..30) SM/SN oil is hardly pure dino..... So don't worry, switch back and forth as You like.

    Coolant system diagnostic assistance, please?

My lower hose looks really bad, but still holds... Due for changing really soooon! Maybe the clamp is getting old, get OEM replacement. I know, changing hose involves some WT#~@|@#F!!! Sure, we all hope it's not a radiator issue ( [-o< ) If You can, try to re-use H-OAT, unless it's...

How the ?!#* do you remove the low-pressure PS hose from the cooler?

AFAIK and IIRC ( never removed mine anyway... ) P/S Cooler should be a one piece assembly which comes with cooler and hoses crimped in place. PN : 52129063AA ( '06 MY) Cheers

    thinking about a Liberty CRD

Oh Noooo. A Diesel vs Gas thread :pp::happy175: To all fellow 'gassers' : 'Diesel' is a religion...... There's absolutely no way of making them change their mind! Much like the stick vs auto issue..... ( I go for auto :) ) I admit diesels use less fuel per mile (sounds good) ... but...

    Front differential leak

Even if stated in MY '02 FSM, not '06, it can be done without that %$"#, I don't remember how though. I did that a couple years ago, same reason of the OP,but a friend of mine, a mechanic, was helping me, so he took care of that.. Just a matter of putting a screwdriver to hold the cover...

    Service at 250k km

Quite right tjkj, I forgot to mention brake fluid and HOAT ( but if You change W/P.... ) And, almost forgot about that, shocks and coils, those must be over due.... PS: don't know of 3.7s, but diesel Euro-KJs were built originally in Graz, Austria.

    Service at 250k km

Well, trazman, I am not a Guru, but I think it all depends on what has been done before... It would be useless to just say 'change this, change that...' if it has been replaced recently.. But, in case the KJ had not received MAJOR repairs, I'd suggest (IMHO): - Tensioner and belt -...

    Do I have ABS?

Me too am surprised by how many ABS haters are out there....... No ESP on mine, only ABS, they aren't necessarily married :D AFAIK ESP is only a firmware function of ABS, and they make You pay for that ( OK, OK, a lamp and a switch......).

Best set up for the desert

My 0.02... If planning to do that more than one day I'd add - More than ONE air filter ( You might have to change it once a day...) - 11m/CB ( Aussie style... SSB, High power antenna and some..'juice') - Tools When back in town, seriously consider having oil changed. Hint, put...

    Dealer my -ss

Hey waywardtravel, seems You're a bit like me, who keep a stash of OE spares... But, seriously, what's wrong with the steering system? If You want to buy spares ' 'cause one never knows....' ( my attitude... :) ) then OK, but what has the PS pump done to You to become a candidate for...

So wats ya gettin' for your KJ for Xmas???

Some OE spare parts she might need as she get older... ( retirement plan ???:happy175:) No wash, it still rains twice a day.....:disgust:

    Spares stash / survival kit

Hard to believe, but I feel more confortable with electronics, even though I know there are more 'dispersed' parts involved... Btw, I Always carry an OBDII scantool aboard... Moreover, no distributor in our KJs....:smokin:

    Spares stash / survival kit

Sure Dave, You're quite right, we cannot be prepared against everything, just try to make hard times ( if any ) a bit 'easier'... Good point about Mother's Nature resources too :) And yes, we take combustibles for granted, but..

    Coffee Anyone?

Planning to build one too... Don't know really ( a US made one over 1k, I guess...). 3KW are going to kill Your battery though. Even for a short time it's a no no. Unless of course You want one because of it's larger load margin... Above 1 KW, 24V (or more) DC input inverters are...

    Spares stash / survival kit

Thanks for all the clues, all good points, but I didn't mean I would be on the run, on the brink of illegality. Things might get harder for a host of reasons, sometimes one doesn't even realize they do... Just getting spares for my vehicle is becoming harder and harder, not to mention...

    Spares stash / survival kit

Nice trailer, Azmotoman, and, unlike a camper, it can be easily camouflaged... I recall seeing ( forgot to bookmark, grrr...) a custom KJ with no rear doors, renegade style lamps on rooftop, which was more similar to an infirmary (or a UN vehicle..) than a camper. Rear windows were home...
