    Synthetic vs. Dino Gear Oil

04Liberty, You know, Mopar fluids are notoriously CHEAP  that's why they're reccomended... Mopar 75W/140 fluid here is as expensive as gold and I'm not sure it's worth while. Just IMHO. I either use Shell Spirax or a cheap though not so bad local brand ( Venoco ).

    Tranny service question

HJ, IIRC relearn isn't required for a simple pan drop, unless of course new parameters are flashed into the TCM. Also, it seems that ATF+4 ir rather shear stable, so, changing just 5 qts won't change fluid's properties all that much. Also, You probably know I'm in favour of doing that kind...

    Trans fluid options?

Bmrrwolfe, sorry for the delay... I erased the file by mistake but I recovered it from here: wkjeeps.com/tsb/tsb_wk_2600109.pdf ( add www. :) ) , if I got it right, this should apply.

    Trans fluid options?

Hi Bmrrwolfe, sorry for joining the thread a bit late.... x2 on pan drop/sump cover change. Just be careful the new one is flat, well, You know, being so damn cheap.... and, sorry if I can't find it at the moment, but I read a TSB from Chrysler stating that flushing should be AVOIDED. IMHO a...

when an abs sensor goes bad

New Jeep Owner, sorry for misguiding You, but my KJ (MY '06) was assembled here and apparently still used a MY 2005 layout, therefore ABS system is a three-channel one, std for '05 IIRC. So, no separate rear wheel speed sensors for me. I can only guess the four-channel was standard with...

when an abs sensor goes bad

Oh, BTW, check for snapped cables as well... happened to me once (RH sensor) :disgust:

when an abs sensor goes bad

First of all, don't despair :) And Yes, You'd need a really smart scan tool to read the proper code :( But, before You :pp: .... do the following: if space is too tight for you, lift the rear axle a bit, then, just above the diff, there is a connector which, 90% of the times, is the...

Rough idle and poor gas milage

FWIW, other that the PCV valve, there's an inexpensive ( and mostly ignored...) small sponge filter in the airbox... Change or clean it with some gas, don't know mileage but idle should stabilize. At least it worked for me... Also, a can of injector cleaner and an 'italian tune-up'...

    Libby starts and then dies.

Wait, I know I'm just guessing but.... Do You mean You have an 'hard-start' condition? You may want to check the ECT sensor ( coolant temperature ) .... Just my 0.02.

    Libby starts and then dies.

Yes Dmut, I realized I had made a mistake after hitting the Submit Reply button....:sorry: I was hoping to get away with it..... :happy175:

    Libby starts and then dies.

Well, said a bit bluntly.... it could be :( Hey, but as all know here, I'm no guru. Hope Dmut is right and it's just a stupid TPS, or fuel pump  Anyway, as a general rule of thumb, check out the usual things, like air filter, battery voltage, fuses, relays, anti-theft... Keep us...

    Libby starts and then dies.

Know may sound stupid, but can You feel exhaust gasses flowing from the tail pipe while engine's still running? In case just find someone willing to lend You a hand and start the engine while You're testing the exhaust...

anyone replace a front wheel bearing yet?

Take a look at page #3 on the how to section (hub replacement). Kindly brought to us by ptsb5a (bowdown) P.N. should be : 52128692AE Right and 52128693AE Left Anyway, check with the seller to make sure those parts apply to Your Vehicle! IMHO, I'd also change the 3 bolts (P.N...

looking for more torque and hp

Well, that just might improve KJ's accelleration.....in the long run. :happy175:

looking for more torque and hp

Well, probably the concept of 'closed loop' is a tough subject, but the bottom line is that the 'system' i.e sensors such as IAT,TPS,O2S,etc., PCM and actuators like the injectors, EGR (does not apply to gas KJs) interact to maintain a given output, not HPs but a pre-calculated combustion...

    P0128 - Just changed the freakin' T-stat!!!

I don't mean it's disconnected ( there should be another DTC in this case, I suppose...), I just thought the sensor 'might' have aged thus giving bad readings... IIRC changing it (in case of...) also means spilling some coolant. But hey, I was just throwin' in another clue.. :) And no, You...

    P0128 - Just changed the freakin' T-stat!!!

Ehmmm.... We all are assuming the ECT sensor is OK, isn't it....!? Just thinking out loud, but, what if the sensor is wrong, that is it's not reporting the right temperature? A scan-tool in live-data mode might help. No need to be an expensive one (better if borrowed :D) because it only...

    Owning a CRD vs Owning a V6

It's alright then, this means You are on schedule 'A' ( per FSM and owners manual ). Not trying to force You into wasting good oil...I know that throughout the world it may not be cheap  Manuals don't emphasize that enough, but dust/sand ( then not Your case ) are engines' worst enemy...

    Owning a CRD vs Owning a V6

LibertyTC, Doublecardan, couldn't have said it better ......(Cheers) Also Marlon, I've driven some Diesels and, IMO, applying that 'torque' many seem to like so much, via a clutch, is annoying to say the least. Billwill said that right. I'd also go fo an auto if 'forced' into buying a...

How many folks here have castrated their KJ's?

...I'm biting my tongue....don't want to be banned for life .... rollinglaugh.gif Moreover, my Dana 44 doesn't have those, thus, does that mean it's...a '42RLE' (....)??? :happy175: rollinglaugh.gif
