Moving parts make friction do they not?
The front differential needs synthetic oil because the pumpkin is small so it doesn't hold much oil. This is compounded by the fact that the front diff doesn't get good air flow with the front skid installed. This is / was the reasoning for the heavy oil.
The installation took about 1 hour from start to finish. The only reason that it takes so long is because you have to unbolt the drivers seat to slide the sub bracket under the seat mount to secure it in place. The rest of the install is simply remove / reinstall.
It's kind of muddy...
If you aren't after huge boom-boom that makes the neighbors mad, I would go with the Mopar Sub. It's the easiest to install and simply goes under the driver seat. No loss of cargo space, no door trim removal and no splicing of wires.
I've had mine for many, many years and enjoy it a lot.
Haven't most of us been on these boards long enough to know that any mileage over 100,000 on the 3.7 is barrowed time? The valve springs are prone to breaking. The plastic impeller in your water pump is probably shot and you should be thinking about a second or third replacement radiator...
Heated Seats are fantastic in the KJ. The driver seat is on it's second heating element, I wore out the first one but the passenger seat is still OEM. They both get VERY hot very quickly and I love it.
It's also a good way to relax your back on the way home from work since there is a...
If I am mistaken feel free to put me in time out, but the early KJ's actually had basic power steering fluid. It wasn't until later that the KJ's started using ATF+4 in the rack and pump.
I agree on the beer.
And please - I hope my typing doesn't come off as angered. I'm simply after an explanation of the cause of this condensation.
For example:
My drive to Work, each way is 45Minutes long. [Long enough to reach operating temperature]
Oil = 5w30 Mobil 1 EP [year...
There really is not much difference at all between the Liberty Sport and Liberty Limited. These differences really disappear, especially in the later model year variants.
Random Thoughts:
The real hardware differences were between 4 cylinder / 6 cylinder models but Chrysler stopped...
That body seam under the flipper glass is going to be the end of any KJ that lives in a salty environment. I've also got rust under the paint on both rear doors at the wheel well areas. The door rust must be from the constant winter salt spray getting in there.
The KJ is very strong in Front and Rear impact protection.
It is above average in side impact [but that should improve with the side curtain airbags]
I've seen one on it's roof in person and it held up very well
Overall - very strong small SUV.
Checking in: Bailed from Progressive since they were not a "we take care of our customers" kind of insurance house. Sought greener pastures and found them [i.e. better rates and better coverage from a local place that even responds to voice mails]
Good Luck with your Liberty.
Sorry,
I was asking: Those that do not have condensation during the winter months, if their KJ's were equipped with the mechanical engine fan from the HD cooling package. The reason I ask this is that my theory of the chimney effect can be shot down or reinforced.
I believe this phenomenon...
I have this build up every winter.
It's very normal for the KJ. It's been doing it for nearly 8 years now and the Jeep keeps on going. Just clean out the crud every week or so and don't worry about it.
As to why it happens:
Chimney effect due to the crappy plastic oil fill neck. Hot oil...
