Take a look at the 4WD shifter...if it says 2HI-4HI-N-4LO, it's an NP231J.
If it says something else and has five positions (all the above plus a 4WD FULL TIME position) it's an NP242.
Update on this if anybody is interested...
They are no longer requiring you to upgrade to the new plates but they still will be phasing them in with new and renewed registrations.
So we'll all end up with them eventually, they just aren't forcing anyone to upgrade until they have to renew...
Anybody have any experience with a good quality lugnut that WILL NOT rust? I'd like to hear from some people in the rust belt like myself, not someone in Arizona or Miami.
I paid Sears $60 for 20 new aftermarket lugnuts when I had my Cragar's mounted. Six months later they're rusted to hell. I...
Mine did that.
Simple fix for the problem...a new engine.
Just kidding...I have no idea what could be causing your problem. The guys have already given you the advice I would have. But it is funny, the symptoms are exactly the same as mine, minus the knocking and milky oil.
Got it back. Ended up putting a used engine with 43k miles in it. New clutch.
Engine guy said my old one had bad rings, blown head gasket and the crank was scored badly, also the timing chain(s) were ready to give up.
New motor and clutch are great, it's like having a brand new Jeep. Only...
I never had any leaks or ANY signs/symptoms that this was coming. I know enough to heed warning signs, especially on a daily driver that I depend on very much.
Anyway, she left on the flatbed about a half hour ago. Got an engine guy that's going to tear it apart and rebuild it. I'll let you...
Tjkj is going to blame this on my lackluster maintenance, I just know it. Truth is, I'm pretty good about oil changes. This all happened about half way between oil changes. Oil is full. Just milky. Purolator filters. Temps in my area have been below zero degrees farenheit for several days...
Yep I'm calling it quits. Time of death 112,690 miles. Father in law owns a towing company and a friend of the family is a mechanic. You do the math...lol.
Mechanic is on vacation until next week. Hoping to hear it's just a head gasket but with the knocking...crap who knows. Spending the rest...
Thanks Budke.
So I let it warm up in the garage. Started it up, still no CEL. Let it run for a few minutes waiting for the CEL to come on. It never did. Got almost up to normal operating temp. Knocking came back, along with a distinct singular "CLACK" every 3 seconds or so regardless of engine...
Malicious gas tank additions? Probably not I would think...who knows.
I suppose a gasket leak is a possibility...
Budke...stop it you're scaring the bejesus out of me! J/K I appreciate the input.
