    Mounting points for Engine Removal

The lift plate is unique to the 3,7, not going to be at the auto parts store. I'd look at how Itd02 does it. Some wrap it to the exhaust which can crack the valve covers under tension. Some have lifted from the where knock sensors bolt , which I don't think are near enough Sent from my...

    I couldn't think of a cheecky title

Incredible! It says volumes about the structural integrity of the KJ and probably most modern jeeps. I've gotten rid of a couple of cars I could see the kids wanting to drive someday because they'd be no good in a crash. When I was still a young driver there was a relatively nice day where I...

    Engine Dilema

As I recall it there are three freeze plugs on the back, one each by the cylinder heads and one in the bell housing area. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

OK, so let's be serious...4.7l swap.

Um, for a Hotwireauto set up. No idea, probably match the engine to year ecu system. For just dropping in and running it's not going to work from what I've read. It's only 2 more cylinder than the 3.7 and should be the same bolt pattern but the engine control usually kills these projects...

    Warped rotors

Um, I've got some visibly warped rotors sitting in my garage that disagree. Hell I used to turn rotors and drums at a shop all day long we'd get warped parts to turn. If everything is new I wonder what's causing the pulsating felt in the steering wheel. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Warped rotors

I've had rear rotors shake so bad I thought it was the front, if you feel it in the steering wheel it's usually the front . Even if the brakes are not that old they can warp. Had brake job done on a f150, rotor turned and new pads , less than 10k they were warped. But they are known for problem...

    2002 3.7l engine parts compatability

If your talking to a junk yard / salvage yard their interchange is more limited than what will work, the Hollander interchange they use is based a lot on what the factory says, so it misleading because the factory doesn't often come back to correct errors. That's why I'll go between the...

    2006 tpms sensors

Guess it depends what your budget can stand. The dorman 974- 001 if they are correct for this year jeep are not too expensive, I think a little cheaper than last year, looks like about $100 for a set. But I don't know if the hold up like oem. I Don't regret getting the eBay ones, they work...

    2006 tpms sensors

    2006 tpms sensors

I got a set of 56029526aa 4 sensor kit from eBay for our 06 commander , they worked great. But as I remember they were used, cleaned tested with batteries checked. I don't think the batteries are a serviceable part. I think the warranty was only a month but I've had no problem in a year plus...

    Jeep liberty rpms

I think it's supposed to idle in drive at 550, my 06 XK is closer to 500 when warm. It does a weird stalling trick goes down to 300-400 rpm then back to normal . A lot of 3.7 and 4.7 owners experience this, might be CPS might not. For me I know it's based on the electrical load, ac, fan on high...

Bearings kill two engines inside a year.. Mechanics clueless

This might be completely wrong, on the Cherokee 4.0 with AW4 automatic transmission some times the bolts for the torque converter to flexplate backs out and makes a horrible sound. If it's not the bearings but sounds like it, maybe it's a cause on KJs too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bearings kill two engines inside a year.. Mechanics clueless

Sounds like you did everything right. A junk yard will not have a clue if the was a headgasket issue that was repaired before they got the car which is what I'd suspect as lead culprit in eventually killing bearings, but it could just be bad luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Bearings kill two engines inside a year.. Mechanics clueless

Where did the engines come from? And how long did they sit? Reason I ask is I had some Toyota Japanese cuts outs that were a huge PITA. Cutout motors are from cars too old to be on Japanese roads legally ( some very strict laws with tax penalties behind them) The motors are literally cut out...

How far is too far with high miles?

4000 round trip on a on a 180k KJ? Really depends on you maintenance and what you know of it history. Me I probably do it , preparing in the back of my mind for problems. But the safest way might be (fly in?)rent a truck and bring it home. Um, you might be able to get it hauled for a...

    Need front pads- reuse rotors?

I've had good luck with raybestos advanced technology I think its called, it's a semi metallic . Made a huge difference in how our truck stops. There may be better pads from other companies. I think it's Wagner gold (not sure the name, whatever advance auto sells) pads on the Cherokee and...
