If it's just at cold start up it might be a fairly normal sound depending on the age and miles. The engine timing chain tensioners getting oil and the lifters, they are a little dry at first start up.
A better oil filter might help if it's just start up noise but it's hard to say that's what it...
Ouch. Is there a possibility of bad fuel?
Like libertyTC was saying you sort of got to start with the basics.
I'm curious about what year it is because the coil packs change design which could explain misfires on either engine bank. All those test readings LibertyTC asked about will tell you...
My first guess. Check the Idle Air Control (IAC) it right next to the TPS on the Throttlebody. Unless you have the electric controlled throttle instead of the cable controlled, I know they changed things converting to the electric throttle. Then I'm not sure what it'd be in control of the idle...
Bell housing to block "shim"
If the dowels are they should work, problem I had was the jerky way the motor moved during reinstallation

Bell housing to block "shim"
I had that plate go out position twice installing the motor last year. Worst was getting it almost in place then having pull it out enough to fix it.
I put two of the bolts sort of in place to help hold it. I think the two near the bottom had the bolts...
Personally I'd try to find the correct dipstick because it bottoms out correctly.
My commander has the Mercedes transmission with no dipstick, I bought one of the Mercedes universal looking dipsticks. This has a springy body and plastic measuring stick. Problem I found is it would easily bend...
Two of the tricks is the power steering and ac compressor can be left attached and just pushed aside. Probably the same trick for a lot of jeeps.
Just about any vehicle needing a engine is going to be costly unless it's ubiquitous like a 4.0 .
I found the 3.7 a hard engine to find a good cheap...
Something to keep in mind is most used warranties and rebuilt for that matter require certain things be changed for a 90 day guarantee to be honored.
Stuff like water pump, spark plugs, oil seals replaced.
When i swapped the 2012 in to the 06, it was very straight forward and a low mileage...
Having trouble logging in the main site. Anyway here are the models that use 3.7 (I'm going to make 2004 the baseline because I think that's when Chrysler changed the reluctors, although if you could grab any older 3.7 and change the reluctors to match the new year but it simpler to grab the...
Any Chrysler 3.7 from just about anything 2005-2012 (2004? Not sure when they changed reluctors)
We put a 2012 liberty motor in our 2006 commander, swapped the oil pan ( liberty should be the same) , intake, throttle body the temp sensor and cam sensor. The rest was bolt up.
The other thing...
Check the design is the same. They change through the years. The 2006 ignition coils are slightly taller than 2003 and the orings are different too.
I tryed to swap in a 2003 ignition coil to replace a Chinese coil it was different enough the orings did really work of course the orings were old...
Well it wouldn't go amiss replace them, but they might be ok.
Should be mopar 56028138AF, if you are after a certain year (08, 09??) the ignition coils change design.
They'd be $35-50 price range each from mopar depending on the dealer or Amazon /eBay seller.
Used should be something like...
That's what I thought, but I have seen a few people who say different. Personally I'd keep to the recommended plug as you confirm.

How I'd have transmission fluid? Refilling?
Antifreeze maybe the heater line leaked.
I'd look for a good used low mileage set on eBay. Or junk yard. Whatever you do Keep it mopar for sure. The Chinese knockoffs don't last.
But there may be nothing wrong with yours really. How high is the...
I think the oem plugs are SPZFR6F11G
There should be another part number for the manufacture, NGK? I think
You might be fine with the new platinum plugs, I do know the 3.7 is one of the rare vehicles that don't Benefit from platinum plugs. Although some do swear they run better with them once...
3.7 (& 4.7) seem to have a common haunt where occasionally the idle dips below 550 then surges back, various explanations for why from torque converter, low transmission fluid, to crank position sensor and cam position sensor.
I've not found the cause yet.
About the spark plug I hear the oem...
Ps is you don't have two recognized keys you'll have to get either the dealership or a professional
Locksmith with the tool to reprogram the keys into the pcm

I got two aftermarket keys with fobs for our commander on eBay, as long as you have two original keys you can program the new key. I used the case button and battery to swap one of the oem keys that had worn-out (missing) buttons. The other aftermarket key works ok but not as good a range as the...
If it were my jeep my every instinct would be to try to save it. But they kind of already screwed you over by making the title salvage. Not sure how big a pain it will be to get it certified for the road again, in some states it's not so bad.
For the insurance company they look at it as...
Some times it depends on the brand gas too. Had a old rabbit that hated shell 87 octane, ran fine on every other brand .
Jeeps I've never had be picky about where the fuel comes from.
However all the different seasonal blends who knows. You can still find real gasoline without ethanol but it's...
