I think "useless" is a bit harsh. I'm glad I have mine - they definitely saved some body damage. BUT... I wouldn't recommend them to someone for use as permanent "rock sliders". I have the stock rails on my Renegade and as the guys said above, they're pretty much just for looks. Better than nothing, but mine are dented to hell (edit: AND the supports are bent) from just a couple of rocky trails. I plan on upgrading mine as soon as I can afford it.
