    CRD diesel charge opening

The fuel hose/nozzle you're using is of a high flow type designed mostly for re-fueling of large trucks quickly. The flow rate (gallons per hour) is tooo much for the Liberty. My 2003 Dodge RAM 2500 Crew Cab 4x4 with Cummins Turbo Diesel DOES have a large enough filler opening to accomodate this...

    CRD Club

You'll see the gap between the overhead mpg and hand calculated mpg decrease with more consistent topping off of the fuel tank at every fill-up. Between the fuel quality, fuel pressure and volume at the nozzle, and outside temperature, topping off consistently can be a time consuming task. Greg

New member with new 05 CRD Sport

Welcome to this fine site; you'll soon find there's a nice group of people on here. The Bright Silver Metallic is a great color choice ! I bought my wife an '05 CRD on April 21st....it's been a great little SUV after 3400 miles to date.....no problems at all. We came from an '02 Jeep Liberty...

Filled up the CRD with b99...

Bio-diesel is not very plentiful in my neck of the woods; good ol' #2 is about $2.18/9 per gallon around here. Due to availability (and price) of the bio, I'll stick with good ol' #2. Also, just averaged 26.35 mpg on last tank....my CRD has about 3400 miles on it to date. Greg

    I'm New

Does it look something like this perhaps ? Just bought my wife one April 21st....she absolutely loves it (especially the mpg increase from her '02 Liberty Sport 4x4 3.7L gasser). Welcome to the site & enjoy your new CRD. Greg

    spark plug location...???

    a) 30k miles. b) My '02 had NGK's in it....somewhat strange I thought...most OEM Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep's had Champions in them. Greg

    spark plug location...???

Great choice on the spark plugs...that's what went in my wife's '02 last December. Given the above average degree of difficulty, I opted to go with some that would last in excess of 30k before replacement would be needed again. I'm spark plug*free on the '05 now. Greg

    spark plug location...???

I changed them in my wife's '02 KJ last December....going off memory, I believe the removal of the coolant overflow tank makes things much easier; a swivel socket adaptor also comes in handy for the back spark plug on the driver's side. Greg

    spark plug location...???

Not being negative, but if you really need to ask, it's most likely a task you should not be undertaking. The difficulty level on a Jeep 3.7L is a little tough; not having the correct tools can make it even more of a task. Greg

    Brakes

Am I correct that there's no wear indicators built into the brake pad set ? If not, everyone with 20k or 25k miles better go pull your wheels and check all your pads (and shoes, if equipped) ! Greg

    Brakes

At every 5,000 mile tire rotation, the brakes need to be closely inspected. If there is a problem, you're more readily able to correct it before any rotor damage is done. Based on your description of the brake wear, sounds like the inner pad wore at a more rapid rate....possibly due to a...

What a great road trip vehicle!

Indiana is a beautful state. I was in Indy about two weeks ago delivering this : and I really enjoyed the lay of the land for a change. Great pics, grogiefrog. Nice little bit of history about Wabash, IN too...I learned something new today. Greg

    DC financial results

Couldn't agree more.......if DC starts "force-feeding" their MB diesel engines onto the RAM 2500 & 3500 markets after their contract is up with Cummins in 2010, there will be lots of chaos, panic & disorder in their strong light truck sales market. Cummins & Dodge have a great business...
