What did you do to your jeep today?

Finally got around to installing my transfer case skid. Also saw that half the boot on my slip yoke was torn off. Luckily I have the one from the old tc just sitting around.

4HI and Part Time not working?????

How do you know that 4HI (full time i assume) and part time don't work while 4LO does? I was having problems with my transfer case also. It would pop out of 4wd and into 2wd, mostly when stressed in 4LO but also in any 4WD mode. I could still run in "2LO" (front wheels wouldnt engage) or full...

Noise: "Squeak Squeak" on cold start

Belt definetly changes speed with engine RPM. Not trying to be a dick but, are you sure it doesnt speed up with engine rpm? I would think the belt would squeak about twice a second if the tensioner pulley bearing was going bad allowing the belt to wobble. Does your belt wobble slightly on the...

    ball joint HF tool?

I rented a ball joint press from advance auto parts with their tool loan program. I think I had to put 100 dollars down but got it all back when I returned the press. It looked the same but was free to use.

    My Jeep is overheating !!!

If it is heating up in traffic or when you are going slow but cooling to normal at highway speed then I would check the fan. The fan will come on after the temperature goes above normal or when the air conditioner is on. Crank it, then turn the a/c on and you should hear the fan kick on.

    Rear Axle Swap

X2. You would only need to open it and do what you wanted to it as long as the housing is not damaged. I also saw that you said "open." There are lots of ways to lock it or put in a limited slip if that's all you want to do.

What did you do to your jeep today?

After three macgyver attempts at fixing the broken tube on my window regulator, using 100mph tape, a pipe fitting, and finally hose clamps and metal strips, each attempt lasting less than two weeks, I broke down, bought, and installed a new regulator from advance auto.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Heard some rattling from the brakes. Quickly determined it was the parking brake by pulling the handle and the noise changed but it wouldn't change when I pressed on the brakes. Pulled them off. Left shoe looked brand new except the material was separated. Right side was bare metal. Previous...

    wondering what this is called

Just being humorous. But really, my dad had one on his van in the late 70s. Its not my taste but all the "retro" stuff is making a comeback. And hey, I was born in 83. Some of you guys were way past your first jeeps by then and I respect that.

    wondering what this is called

:happy175::happy175:Don't knock the moon visor on a kj. That would be badass. I used to have one just like that on my van in the 70s.:happy175::happy175:

What did you do to your jeep today?

4 infantrymen + 4hours + a lot of beer = 1 swapped out t-case + 2 missing bolts from the rear driveshaft. Now to see if I can't find the bolts in the sober daylight.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Mine was doing the same thing. I bought a 3/8 pipe connection for it but that pulled apart after about 3 weeks. Yesterday I bought a piece of 1/2 in pipe and am going to glue it together with pipe cement. Hopefully that will hold.

    sleeping in your jeep...

I never understood that. Getting up an hour early to sleep for an hour before pt. Traffic really isn't that bad 15 minutes before formation. Those last minute guys are sucking though. But hey, whatever works for you. I sleep in the front of mine in the field sometimes but can't do it too...

    new owner problem with 4wd

Sounds like the position sensor, search for it, plenty on here about it. Also I wouldn't drive in full time either without same size tires. It wasn't designed to do that much differentiating. More stress= more chances of something breaking

    transfer case

Yes I see what you are saying now. A lot of internet sites incorrectly label a np242 as a nv242. Anyway, case closed. Tc ordered from davey along with some skids (shipping was expensive, but since I "bought" the pallet, I might as well fill it up). He even threw in a tow hook for free.

    transfer case

Thanks Bob, I will definetly be giving him a call. I know those will fit and could get some cheap skids too.
