well i took the arm out to replace it and found my clunking and creeking source. the boot for the rear ball joint is degrading and letting moisture in.
i replaced it with the aftermarket option from orielly auto parts and all my noises are gone!

here are virgin oil samples from pennzoil. hm and mobile super 5000, both are 5w-30. as you can see both 5w-30's are not the same weight (noted by cSt Viscosity @ 100'C ). the pennzoil 5w-30 high mileage (as you can see) is almost a 10% thicker 5w-30 oil at 100 degrees c. If you have more...
