if it is still under the 3/36 then you qualify as the customer (since you are the owner)! go and make a new warranty claim, with the proper plugs in it! mike
carbon build up
just information (fyi) i believe the cause of this whole valve not rotating tsb was do to the valve train rework in 05.
these 3.7L and 4.7L will build up alot of carbon if you short trip them and use discount gasoline with the epa minimum detergent! this explains why some...
i agree! but some of these dealers won't give you access to warranty work on the ignition/ motor work, unless factory oem plugs are in, and the problem still presents.
i am now out of warranty now and soon i will change the ngk's out for another copper core brand!
well there you go, you can not assume they know about the tsb (especially if it is a low volume dealer!)
you are going to have to be assertive in a firm but calm way and ask them specifically about the tsb and tell them you want this problem covered under the tsb! i gave you a copy of the tsb...
At that time nothing was mechanically wrong! the valve not rotating (according to the tsb) is an intermittant problem! thats why their is revised valve locks according to the tsb, this ensures valve rotation like it is suppose to!
second change the plugs out for the oem ngk's. why would you...
get the tsb done and you will be good to go! unfortunatly it was mis diagnosed to begin with and you are going to have to be assertive to get it diagnosed and fixed right with the tsb. good luck! mike
great i am glad this saga is coming to a good ending! any listing on the invoice for head work? i guess it was overheated at one point (causing the headgasket failure)? mike
cool, i've been waiting to here what the invoice says! and for the record i've bought alot of used cars from a dealer other than their make. and never had a problem!
i agree with you, that the chevy dealer is handling this situation as best as they can! mike
thanks for the update.let us know more detail when you get it! an o-ring doesn't sound right, because an o-ring doesn't exist in the valvetrain for #5. mike
in reference to t.s.b. 09-007-06 below is page 1 and 2 of the tsb. it will be important to ask the dealer for the miss fire count at idle. around 10 and you qualify for the tsb, if you are under warranty.

mine has had this noise since the day i bought it new with 12 miles on it! it sounds like a diesel on cold start up. i always thought it was piston slap also. i think it is piston slap be cause the noise is identical to the piston slap noise in my 99 cherokee with a 4.0L. i have heard lots of...
i wouldn't try it. compressed air can blow moisture in the trans causing bad things to happen. not to mention when the vehicle is off there is no flow in the trans, causing a lot of check valves to be closed. you could damage alot of things! mike
it might be worth taking it across the border if it is the following tsb (which i hear applies to the 2007's) it costs 2000grand to have it done.

what do you mean no warranty? it should have the 3/36! if it was bought new in the summer of 06 (earliest you can get an 2007) then it should have 1 year of warranty left! mike
lastly if you don't have the blinking cel (hard missfire) read with in 30-40 key cycles the pcm clears it. mike
