Nah, isn't hasn't been a problem yet when I go into 4Lo. What I'd like is it to be less of a problem without going 4Lo - it overheated on just a steepish dirt road that I feel shouldn't be an issue in 4Hi.
Build sheet says I have:
NHFP Power Steering Cooler
NMCP Heavy Duty Engine Cooling
I...
My Liberty has the HD cooler/PS cooler/trans cooler on it already, but that hasn't been enough to stop the transmission temp light from coming on when doing low speed wheeling (I should be in 4Lo, probably - rarely had to do that on my XJ though!). I'd love to put in a radiator with hookups for...
Took it for a short spin out to the desert, getting it good and dusty. Got the exterior rain-washed on the way back.
Once home, did another round of upholstery shampoo on the more stubborn spots and used Mothers VLR on all the vinyl stuff. Shiny.
That thread does bring up one issue though - will this overcool and prevent the 42RLE from hitting overdrive (in normal driving)? I can't see it overcooling that much, but if it does that would be a big problem.
Yeah, I'm getting a cooler because the transmission temp idiot light has already come on while wheeling, and it wasn't even a hot day. It was partly my incompetence in shifting to 4Lo later than I should have, but... I'd like to stick some extra cooling on there just to be safe.
I doubt a...
I am probably going to order this transmission cooler: Amazon.com link
People seem to like it on their Wranglers - any thoughts on installing it on my Liberty? Will having the factory transmission cooler installed change the installation? This will be the first time I've tried installing...
First thing I'd suspect with a blower setting not working is the blower motor resistor.
» How to fix Jeep Liberty blower motor (resistor) – with pictures
Looks like a good one to me. Lower mileage and slightly cheaper than the '05 I just bought (though mine had offroad and towing packages factory installed, which was a big plus for me)
Oh man, busy day...
* Installed cruise control kit ordered from Jeepsareus (part discontinued by MOPAR). Works perfectly! (Thanks Tinkrr for the text instructions you gave me, I'm sure the pictures in the MOPAR instructions are really good but I couldn't always figure them out without the...
Well to each their own. My old stick shift XJ got between 20-24 on highway, my automatic KJ gets 19-20. I suspect the transmission has as much to do with it as anything - I love stick shift but couldn't find a KJ with it when I was buying.
Huh. YMMV on the 4.0L I guess then. On my final trip from Utah to North Idaho, I got about 23mpg on it - far better than the 19 or so I'm doing in my KJ.
Have to say... my 4.0L XJ definitely felt a bit zippier from cold stop than my new 3.7L KJ. But the 4.0 did leak oil like crazy no matter what we did to it - can't deny that one :)
On my old XJ at least, the blower resistor going out made it so the blower fan could only be full-on or full-off, I haven't heard of it causing symptoms like the OP... The vacuum line sounds more likely to me.
(With my old XJ I eventually had to replace the whole blower fan because the...
I've found it at O'Reillys and NAPA, fwiw. Usually the brand is "Zerex G-05", comes in a gold plastic jug that looks like the Prestone jugs. It's the right stuff.
Also, it's on Amazon:

It all very much depends on where I will be next year (graduating from college this summer!) but if I'm a reasonable distance from it I know a few fun places to go in the Wyoming interior. Will have to see what my status is next summer.
