Getting rid of it for gas mileage alone probably won't save you much, and might cost you depending on what you choose as an alternative. Are you talking about the pistons? If so, yeah had a frozen one a while back. Cause the pads to wear down to the metal prematurely. First time I had ever seen it so I spent an inordinate amount of time thinking something else was wrong. Now, I wouldn't waste fifteen minutes messing with it...- jnaut

New Belt - No AC
My guess is, the strange noise you heard when the AC was on wasn't the tensioner, it was probably something related to the AC, more than likely the clutch. I'd start there because it sounds like you've had a clutch failure which would describe 1: the smell and 2: the lack of AC.- jnaut

Slight steering wheel wobble
I disagree slightly with this. Losing a wheel weight should cause it to wobble worse the faster you go. Once a tire's out of balance, the faster you spin it, the more pronounced the effect.- jnaut

For simplicity, I've also read about people just putting a TEE fitting in the line-- the line leaving the transmission because it's still hot enough to give you a true reading based on what's actually going on in the valve body. If someone does it, a how-to would be awesome.- jnaut

Fuel injector Cleaner Opinions
I use the STP injector cleaner off the shelf. Did my first cleaning at 50,000 miles, now do it around every 15k. I try not to overdo it 'cause that stuff can be hard on your O2 sensors. I have no empiricle evidence that the STP brand harms the O2 sensors specifically, but many fuel additives...- jnaut

I'll second what journeyjim said. When my WP went, it would actually leak intermittently and an incredibly small amount. Like measurable in drops. There's a weep hole underneath the waterpump housing that will be slighly wet if you can reach under there. If it's weeping, then it's time to...- jnaut
