New KJ!, well not new, but new to me!

Oil problems The only thing I've ever heard about oil problems was from my mechanic. He said the oil return ports were a little small and has seen a couple clog, so he recommends 5w20 instead of 5w30. I've never seen it happen, or heard about it on the forums. Anyway, welcome to the club.

    Hood air/bug deflector

Rcoks Don't have one on my Jeep, but have used them on other vehicles in the past. The don't help with rocks that are too big to be moved by air currents. Some people think that they throw chip causing rocks more into the drivers field of vision, instead of the rock hitting lower on the...

    Problem starting

Battery It's a 2002, does it still have the original battery? A lot of people with 03-04's are starting to have battery problems (including me). The problems are all solved with a new battery. Another possibility is that you arlernator is bad and isn't properly charging the battery. But my...

    Renegade Hood

I quickly scanned the Parts list and it looks like the grille, hood and hinges are different. The parts list had two different part numbers for hoods and two different numbers for hinges, one of each was referred to as "Series 'M'". So I assume they're for the Renegade since it's the only...

    MPG thread

Electronic MPG calculators The Scangauge II, EVIC and any/all other electronic mpg calculators all work in exactly the same way. They're not calculating any data, they just gather the data, and the calculations already done by your Jeep and display them for you. MPG's are calculated from the...

    MPG thread

MPG's 12 miles is hardly a large enough sample to calculate mpg's. It will give you a good, optimal mpg, but it won't give you a good average. The more miles you use to calcalate your mpg's the more accurate you mpg average will be. I calculate my mpg's every tank. I reset the trip odometer...

    US vs European model?

Software I don't think anyone has delved into the software of the Jeep. It may not only require reprogramming of the the EVIC unit itself, but could require reprogramming of one or more control modules (BCM, PCM, may others). I'm not sure what year EVIC's will work in 05 models, and if there...

    Low tire pressure dash light

Pressure You may have to retrain your sensors. If you don't have the magnet, you'll have to take it to the dealership.

    Renegade Fender Flares

Flares www.jparts.com I've kept my eye on eBay and www.car-part.com for a while now and haven't seen any come up. The good thing about the 06-07's is that they're not painted, so that's one less expense you have to worry about.

    fraud

Those are some pretty serious accusations, and a lack of supporting evidence (not to mention a lack of PUNCTUATION.) TKTJ2002 is a vast source of KJ, and general vehicle knowledge, and has been nothing but helpful here, and over on LOST. I don't think you'll find anyone who won't defend him. So...

AC I always drive with my Jeep on recirculate, most of the time with my AC on. I did replace my 04 controls with 05+ controls so that I could use the recirculate feature. My MPG's went up 1.2 mpg when I replaced the the 04 controls with the 05 controls that allow you to recirculate with the AC off.

    MPG thread

MPG's I was getting 17.1 mpg in the city before I added my lightbar and basket, now I get 16.7 because of the increased wind resistance. On the highway I'm averaging 21.7 mpg, down from 22.4 mpg. I haven't done any other exterior mods, or anything under the hood. Check your air filters...

    KK Replacement Radio Antenna

Garage doors You know garage doors are adjustable, right? There should be some type of limit screws somewhere along the driveline. One limit screw adjusts how low the garage door goes (i.e. you don't want it trying to close any further once its on the ground). The other limit screw will adjust...

    04 Liberty dash kit question

Head units The 02-07 Liberty's have a 1.5 DIN sized head unit. I haven't seen any aftermarket 1.5 DIN units. Not sure what size your GTX 200 is (couldn't find it on a search). My guess is that it is a 1.0 DIN. It's smaller than the stock opening, so you'll need a kit to make it fit.

    another dead battery

Alternator My money is on the battery. It's old enough to just goahead and replace. However, if the problem happens again you may want to have your alternator (which charges the battery) checked. Advanced Auto, or Autozone usually check your alternator for free.

    Fuel filter change

Fuel filter The fuel filters are supposed to be "permanently" installed in the tank and don't supposedly need replacement. The service manual says that, in the cargo area, you need to drill the rivets out of the rear two cargo hooks in the floor and fold the carpet forward to expose the access...

Transmission temp warning light comes on

42 Rle I've had my 04 RME up to 14,000 feet (on pavement) and have wheeled over 10,000 feet multiple times. I've towed a car and trailer (approx. 4800 pounds over Loveland Pass (12,000 feet). I've never had my temp light come on.
