What research have you done? We are VERY lucky in that the factory service and parts manuals are free and easy to find (I have to pay $40 for 3 days of access to the manuals for my Subaru, buying them would costs thousands). These manuals have some really great in depth diagnostic and...

I was an idiot- HD Cooling Package

You can get a new fan on rockauto for $60 or so (plus shipping and whatever). You might even be able to find one for almost that (about $100) at your local parts places. Of course, another trip to the junkyard (now that you know) would be the cheapest.

    Which Pag Oil ?

I have not used the sniffers, but the UV dye is pretty easy and fool proof. If you did not add the UV dye, it is probably not in there. You have to buy oil/refrigerant with the UV dye in there on purpose and not all have it. I just used a UV flashlight with mine, and was able to spot it...

I was an idiot- HD Cooling Package

would you have benefited directly in the form of added transmission cooling? no, but the other benefits do add up and are not insignificant. I live in Las Vegas, so my opinion is based on the temperatures and weather here (3 months a year above 95f pretty much 24/7, daytime highs regularly...

Italian Tune Up on 3.7L--Catastrophic or Beneificial?

I have heard that this is how they break in some racing engines, and I have used similar techniques to break in my own (good results too). Outside of engine break-in or 2 stroke engines, I have always thought the idea of "blowing the carbon out" was a myth, doubly so now that everything is...

    2006 Jeep liberty shifting

I have been stalking craigslist and the picknpulls near me for the 4cylinder axels, not easy to find at all.

I built 2 sets of adjustable and rebuildable lower rear control arms this past weekend.

Sounds like a lot of work (to do it right) for not a lot of gain.

    2006 Jeep liberty shifting

You can get relearns done at the dealer (need their computer) but I have heard anecdotally that it doesnt make much of a difference. How long have you had the tires on there? Mine acted weird after I put larger tires on on, but after a couple hundred miles either I got used to it (and changed...

Replace or rebuild lower control arms

$127 and some change. The bushings alone (Moog) Would only be about $40 ($32 for inner pair, and $6 for the strut) per arm and would cost less to ship than the arm itself. The issue comes about the task of pressing out the old and pressing in the new, and the time that takes. I could...

    Bumper trimming

I ripped that section off on the trail years ago lol. Yeah, my bumper is a little looser for it, but it still stayed on. You can get really fancy with the fender well liners and reshape them with a heat gun. You can even use an old putty knife with the heat to weld the plastic too.

Replace or rebuild lower control arms

Funny timing. I literally just got the moog front LCA's from rockauto (they were 130 each iirc). They are sitting in a box in my garage right now, ready for the weekend when I can work on it. Ordered them tuesday night and they got here yesterday. If it would help with your search for quality...

Will any other vehicles spare tire hardcover work on a Liberty?

No doubt, you just gotta match the tire dimensions because obviously a factory RAV 4 spare cover is not going to fit over 31's

Welcome! Generally, the bluetooth OBDII are basic diagnostics only (nothing like trans/srs/abs/airbag or anything covered) and the cheap ones will not last very long and often have problems functioning 100% of the time. Some are good, but lots are bad. I would try your local parts store, even...

    2006 Head Gasket?

you shouldn't need to, but you should inspect them once out and be ready just in case (this is one of those 4 random parts store trips you may end up making :p). You want to look for any stretch in the bolt or any spots where it has necked down due to stretch. Easiest way is to compare the...

    2006 Head Gasket?

the best thing you could do while you wait for funding is to go get the service manual (which we arent supposed to link but can be found easy enough googling). Review the service manual procedure and look for the special tools/steps you need to get the job done. You can usually search up the...

    2006 Head Gasket?

how long it will all take is subjective to your experience and skill. I would expect it to take an entire weekend for your average shade tree mechanic, including lots of time for beer and food breaks and dont forget to factor in running to and from the parts store for that 1 thing you forgot...

    LED Headlight Swap

under the oring on the bulb base there should be a pair of little screws. Take those out, and the oring piece will slide off and you can slide the lock ring on first and then put the plastic ring with oring back on. This is how my old ones were at least and the auxbeam pics on amazon look...

    Moog lower ball joint

Were you planning to do the other bushing in the front, like the lower control arm bushings? I am interested to see how pressing them out and new ones in would go. I noticed mine are cracked and chunks are falling out of the shock bushing on one side, and I am debating pressing old out and...

    LED Headlight Swap

for what its worth, I just got new LED bulbs for the headlights, and they have detailed instructions about which direction to mount them and how to orient them so they perform "better" than other leds. Shinning at my garage door, they don't seem to throw any more light "up" than the standard...
