    4.10 gear finally Installed

So a little update, I almost filled up (used points so not completely), and have some mileage number. Typical tank (fill to gas light) would be the 220km-230km, and was about 250 prior to bigger tires. After gear install, and a little less than full tank and 80km on the DTE (obviously no fuel...

    4.10 Re-gearing - 2025

In your case you are being overly cautious. Its better to be overly cautious in this case .

    4.10 Re-gearing - 2025

Yes the gears are turning, but they are open diff and more importantly are disconnected from the transfer case. By leaving the t-case in 2wd, the front wheels and drive shaft are free spinning and are not being provided any torque. If you were to put it in 4x4 with different gear ratio something...

    4.10 Re-gearing - 2025

So the hardest part of doing gears in the gear pattern. Make your own set up bearings, which will allow you to slide it on the pionon and side gears, make your adjustments check pattern, ad shims etc. If you have the space it is doable at home, especially the front, since its removed. Same...

3.7 engine swap into a Jeep Patriot

Thats a good call. The patriot platform isn't the best choice for much of anything. They aren't terrible, but its meant more as city driver that sometimes hits a light forest service road. For the fewest headaches another vehicle that had that engine would be idea.

    4.10 gear finally Installed

That's rough. I had a free day after work, so I stayed late and did it. I will work on the ground, but I'm spoiled and prefer not to..... plus all my tools are at work hah.

    4.10 gear finally Installed

You don't have to do it the way I did, but even paying for new front and rear gears, from a driveabilty stand point it's a very meaningful upgrade.

    4.10 gear finally Installed

Yeah buying it ahead of time, making sure its set up properly and slapping it in, is just easier. The front was always going to be set up ahead of time, so finding a used 4.10 was the ideal way. Anything to do with 4.10 on the super 30 is expensive. So it was cheaper to get one shipped in rather...

    4.10 gear finally Installed

Did it myself, I got close, I didn't have extra pinion bearings on hand to make a set up bearings. I had assumed we had the pinion depth setting tool, which we didn't so I went with the calculation based on the number and shim stack on the original parts, the calculate based on the mark on the...

    4.10 gear finally Installed

Finally got around to installing my 4.10 gears in the rear. Couple reasons for this. Upgraded to some larger tires a few months back, saw an instant reduction in fuel economy. Lost about 20-30km per tank. Pretty standard, but I also saw a drop on power, more specifically it felt a little...

    Front differential help

Just curious, but did you also re-gear the rear diff when you re-geared the front diff? How much did the front diff assembly rotate? Can you send pics of the diff assembly and the broken drive shaft? Assuming everything was bolted in properly I'm having hard time seeing how you would get...

I'm actually a fan of their look. Rarely see the electric ones here. They are nice and easy to parallel park.

    2008 liberty 3.7

spidertrax may have wheel adapters. I thought I saw some, but could be mistaken. Might actually be cheaper to find some 16 or 17" wheels. When you using spacers, the sweep from being farther out may actually cause more rubbing than sticking with stock spacing. depending on the tires size though.

Front differential crush washer/pinion nut torque 500 ft/lbs??

Yeah the torque spec vs real world torque required to get the correct pre-load aren't the same haha. 24Turbo is correct, crank it down until you have correct pre-load and you're good. Now in the real world when doing a leaking pinion seal, use a torque wrench and check the torque of the pinion...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Went to wreckers picked up a new coolant tank, $15 is worth the gamble. I checked the vin ahead of time and found the liberty next to it came with full skids and the hooks. Picked them all up for a cool $60. Left fuel tank skid since I already had it.

Engines & PCMs, Trans & TCMs: Exact part number matching is mandatory

Needing to have vin programmed into the PCM, TCM, BCM, etc is nothing new. Part number refers to a couple things on Chrysler vehicles. Parts number can be a combination of the physical hardware and the software (based on vehicle configuration). So part numbers for equipment (PCM for example) can...

    Replacing the 3.7 with a M111.973 2.3 L

Motor mounts and cooling/various lines may be your biggest issues. Which transmission will you be using? Manual? That will likely be the easiest way. Drive shafts might need to be customized. You will then need to make sure the pcm-ecm don't require any communication from a tcm or bcm if...
