I've never pulled one of them apart but I'd guess it will have a pilot bearing, I haven't ever seen a gearbox that didn't use one to support the mainshaft. The name brands are all good. Check if it has a duel mass flywheel too, they usually need doing along with the clutch.
You summarised it perfectly with the emblem.... probably something someone's bought and stuck on.
It might be a dealer upgrade, have a look underneath and see what's there, there don't appear to be any tow hooks but it's got the tow receiver that was added to provide protection for the fuel...
I've got KYBs on mine, they have been fine. I don't think you will have any issues from any of the big manufacturers, just avoid unknown cheap rubbish.
I've seen it done with cars and pickups, once you chop half the body off and remove the driveline you only have an axle and a bit of bodywork so I can't imagine it's that heavy. You could even buy a hydraulic hitch and keep the trailer brakes.
Your lucky.... all that sort of thing is banned here...
I'd have use devapo-rust if I had some its good stuff, Unfortunately I didn't plan ahead and they were a lot more rusty than I thought, I was just going to use a wire wheel but that wouldn't touch the rust on them!
They are sitting in primer at the moment, 20 years of salt haven't been kind but...
It works but its very aggressive, wouldn't recommend it if other derust products are available, very glad I greased the bits I didn't want the acid in contact with, it ate into any exposed metal. Stripped the rust off nicely but the Stripped steel flash rusts almost instantly when you remove it...
Started to clean up my spare clevises, I hammered the heavy rust off then had a brainwave... dip them, a quick Google search suggested pool / hottub ph- would do it, I've got loads of that kicking around so I greased the mounting holes so hopefully they won't get touched by the acid and put them...
Anything is possible if you have time and skills, however the whole driveline would need to be swapped out for that I would think, the Patriot 4x4 system is totally different and much lighter duty.
Faulty shock perhaps, if you still have the old ones swap it out, then you can look at it compared to the other one and see if the noise dissappears.
Are your bumpstops still in place?
Sounds like a worn latch or mayby a dodgy microswitch in the rear handle, mine would spring open randomly in the rain when it started to fail, real treat when your driving along. I unplugged the door handle as a temporary fix.
The diff usually howls under load and is silent when you take your foot off. Sadly if it's the diff it's time for a full set of bearings, Check the spider gears too, Mine are shot.
Jeep is going to get a set this summer if I get time, I've got an LSD to put in as well so next winter should be fun.
Just found these, no idea if they are any good but the shape looks like they are actually made to fit our Jeeps & they have approval markings... debatable if they actually mean anything though!
My sanding and 2k clear coat is currently holding up well so I have no plans to change my lights.
