    right front intermediate shaft

    - thinking about this - Did you actually pull the intermediate shaft out? Could be like mine - there is a lot of play (or slop) and the seal leaks fluid. The bearing in the housing had frozen and worn a groove down into the shaft. Even replacing the seal and bearing will leave the shaft...

    right front intermediate shaft

Tim - From a similar thread this past week: https://cmgearworks.com/product/2002-2007-jeep-kj-liberty-rh-front-inner-axle-shaft-4x4-dana-30/

    starter replacement in remote location

totally do-able in the field - if you have a way to get under the jeep. sounds worse than it is, to be sure.

    Shot intermediate shaft?

Thanks for that link! If there were still a true machinist here in town, I would just take it to the shop and have him either weld it up and turn it back to spec, or fit a sleeve over the damage and move on. There are, old style, axle savers for heavier gear like GM rear ends. We used such on...

    Shot intermediate shaft?

Yes. I hold em by the intermediate shaft and after spraying the splined area with FreeAll rust eater stuff, soak it a while then smack the inner cv cup downward while holding the shaft. Usually 3-4 good whacks separates the assembly. Mine is the roller bearing, so unless i can find or...

    Shot intermediate shaft?

Possibly. The seal surface looks decent. Concern is the shaft where the bearing runs is considerably worn from lack of lube. I will try and find a pic of it.

    Shot intermediate shaft?

    - if it is dry, count on the shaft being damaged. There is a good parts diagram on Crown Automotive that shows the exploded view, but no prices as they sell only to ‘trade (pro shops) accounts’. So - plan on the cv, intermediate, bearing, seal. If you have never had it down this far, you...

    Shot intermediate shaft?

I am doing this very thing, while replacing the right side ball joints. I have known the shaft seal was leaking, but it was a ‘get to it someday’ thing. Now, I had the knuckle off and pulled the cv axle, because, why not —- The inner boot was torn when the jeep came down after the ball joint...

    2002 KJ Fuel Rail

Since you said upthread 3.7, I would take a hard look at the rail to injector connection (socket) as it were. The injector has o-rings on the top of it and if one is nicked or dry-rotted, it can cause leaks. Can you isolate exactly where you see the rail leaking? Helpful tip - if it is an...

    Help needed badly.

Anyone think to try car-part.com? 2002 - 2004 gives some hits in PA near me. Focus on 'transmission' and 'floor shifter' as these are not specifically named. Several are about 100 bucks. 2002-04 SHOULD be the same. My 04 and 06 are different ends on the t case end. I may make a trip...

What did you do to your jeep today?

Could well be. This kid hit every hole, every trip for 6 months while learning to drive. Lol. He is much better now! Still gets to help with the job.

What did you do to your jeep today?

Someone is getting ball joints after breaking down in the school parking lot. The tow bill was a bit steep, but since I already have the parts on hand, it is not too bad. Plus son#5 gets to see why i gripe about hitting every pot-hole instead of evading them things!n. My towing driver is...

I have nothing then. Maybe a friend or shop that has a high level scan tool could see what the data from the computer is doing.

Car Handling Issues at High Speeds: Rear-End Swerves and Knocking Sound – Seeking Advice!

1 - rear bushings - lowers give the swerve on acceleration - deceleration - Just did these on my 04 (which btw, had already had the recall work done years back). Look at the link and info above us. 2 - The knock under your foot may well be the driveshaft from the transfer case to the front...

Another alternative is to program them with the overhead EVIC (info center) if installed on your jeep.

    2008 Jeep liberty starter problem

So - Let's focus on turning the engine by hand. How did that go? Easy to turn, hard to turn? Easy then hard, etc? It could be conceivable that several starters are not good right out of the box, especially given the quality of remanufactured parts these days. Next new starter - before you...
