Brakes locking up on 2009 Jeep Liberty 4x4

When the engine is running, the brakes work more aggressively because of the power assist. At what speed are you experiencing lockup? All 4 corners skidding?

    lockers

The 8.25" revisions I know of.... Would be the change from 27 to 29 spline (a reckon that's '97)... And the change from 3/8" bolts to 10mm (about 2005). The bolt size shouldn't affect a lunch-box type locker. For a full-case locker, the holes in the carrier would need to be drilled out for a...

    Shot intermediate shaft?

Not usually One end mates to the CV axle. Other end mates to the differential side gear. Both replaceable.

Best exhaust setup for the KJ?

I have looked carefully at that tailpipe... OEM is nicely mandrel bent like that one, so I didn't bother

    lockers

Afaik, all the Chrysler 8.25" use c-clips. Other Jeep diffs like the Dana 35 and 44 may have come either way.

    lockers

I loved it. It is a real locker. The caveat was it didn't play nice with the np242's full-time mode, so I took it out.

Should i replace my cv axels?

I find CV axles last really really well so long as the boots are intact. Wheel bearings on the other hand.... and diff pinion bearings.... seem to need regular replacement .

Best exhaust setup for the KJ?

I have a $30-40 stainless 2.5" 'see thru' muffler from rockauto. Sound great imho. Stock tailpipe, but onto my 2nd one.

    2005 Liberty 3.7 overheating

One of the water pumps I replaced had a plastic impeller and it was ready to disintegrate. Might be worth a check....

    Rear differential pinion seal

I put in a crush sleeve eliminator when I change a pinion seal. I don't trust myself to not 're-pre-load' used bearings.

    Rancho wrong shocks?

I'm running the rancho RS5764 also. With the slightly stronger CRD coils.

Upper Control arm Fiasco - maybe this will help others...

Could have greased them and removed zerks. My arms from RRO has no greasing provisions. At 150,000km on them now. Edit: there are a number of writeups on die grinding the pocket openings. I would have chamfered the bushing if that was easier.

Upper Control arm Fiasco - maybe this will help others...

Fwiw, I hogged out the bushing pockets with a die grinder to allow the upper arm to droop more. Maybe that would give room? Or are the bushings too wide instead?

    ABS light on

Seems crazy with factory-optional equipment. ABS and TPMS would be optional in 04 & 05 KJ. We have an inspection process here for personal vehicles, but not annual. Only if law enforcement writes you up an order to have one, or bringing in a vehicle from outside the province.

    ABS light on

Fair enough. Sometimes I get way far into chasing something, and then realize, wtf am I doing? Abandon and move on...

    ABS light on

Do you feel you need ABS? Our 2005 doesn't have that option.

REAR LOCKER FOR 06 KJ CRD C8.25 WITH C-CLIPS

Yes indeed. Trac-loks are rather disappointing in a pickup truck with some weight in the bed. I know two people with Torsens (similar to True-trac) that took them out of their pickups - also not enough traction.

REAR LOCKER FOR 06 KJ CRD C8.25 WITH C-CLIPS

IIRC, there is a powertrax no-slip for the LSD. Due to cost, I felt I should 'use up' the LSD first... and that hasn't happened yet - coming up on 13 yrs.

REAR LOCKER FOR 06 KJ CRD C8.25 WITH C-CLIPS

I have Lockrights (autolockers) in the rear of two of my Dodge trucks. I really like them. Would put one in the jeep too, but it has a factory LSD (which is doing ok) making it a more involved install.

To paint, or not to paint (my wheels)

The picture doesn't do it justice.... age, dirt, lighting. I did topcoat with clear. I think that helped it last as long as it has - 10yrs now I think.
