Follow it along the PAX fender to behind the coolant recovery tank. You will want to remove it and tie it out of the way.... Also, the airbox top. There's another junction block to the evaporator core (in the cabin and requires removal of the dash...beyond the scope of today's work).. Another...
Assuming you have no pressure in the system (You MUST check first. It's a felony to let this stuff out into the atmo, and more importantly, not healthy to breathe. So having no pressure in the system, one way or another... Here's the first place to disconnect. Inboard of the PAX headlight there...
.... And remove the front grille trim panel, and radiator header panel...
Lay the header panel to the side. No need to disconnect the hood cables, unless you're really babying your Jeep. Up to you...
I believe they have already been posted in this thread. If not, definitely another.
EDIT 25JUL26 - I'm presently watching the kid do my AC system R&R. Here's the BOM for a 2005 Renegade AC system....
Post in thread '2007 AC needs replaced'...
Tomorrow is the day.... Finally. Going to get a good start early in the morning and R&R everything under the hood associated with the AC system. I should have functional AC in a vehicle for the first time in roughly 30 years (other than roughly 2 weeks when. I first got the Liberty).
Took a 6 mile ride, got home and there is a little streamer of UV dye showing where I suspected... As well as a very light dusting all over the belt, radiator fan and so on. I may have a pinhole leak in the radiator, can't really tell. We will likely be removing it this Saturday for the AC work...
Put half the bottle in rhe cooling res. About to go for a drive to get her to temp and see what the dye tells me. I am about 90 percent sure it's going to be that scabbed-together upper rad hose. There has clearly bees something leaking somewhere.... Maybe? This stuff doesn't flouresce (I may be...
I have a slow leak in the cooling system. Think it is in the upper rad hose where I scabbed in a thermal switch for a project. Received a UV leak detector dye kit today, 5oz off of Amazon. Trying to determine if I use the whole bottle or what....
Received all the parts for the ac work yesterday, and examined it with my son so there's no surprises. Still got a week and a day to get any issues fixed. All was well. But I have to wait til next week to get them installed... 110 with the heat index today. The 25th can't come soon enough...
Nothing I have specifically done to the jeep yet, but I have started receiving parts. The last of them will arrive today (compressor, liquid line, and accumulator) along with the flush fluid I'll be using on the evaporator. My son and I both feel the accumulator is the least likely of the parts...
Furthermore, if it's been exposed to atmo, the humidity in the air is going to interact with what's in the compressor (mainly remnants of oil) and create acid which will eat metal and seals, on top of the basic concerns of corrosion.
If you 'know' the compressor isn't bad.... First question is how do you know, given that it was a used compressor when it was put in? Second question is, then why are you replacing it?
See my list. All that was about $450.
You need...
-Compressor (check the type of compressor you presently have)
-PAG oil (should come with compressor)
-suction line
-liquid line (may come with the compressor, especially if you buy a kit)
-discharge line
-condensor
-seal kit
-receiver/dryer...
