Hi, im new here!

Can anyone help me with the two different serpentine belt lengths on my 2003 2.4 kj (WITH AIRCON)?

Apperantly there is a long belt, that fits over 7 pulleys, and then there is a belt where you remove the bottom idler pulley, then the shorter belt runs only over 6 pulleys.

Please help, i'm trying to buy an aftermarket gatorback, but the local auto-shops does not list my kj on there books, and they need a belt nr to help me, and the nr on my current belt is worn off.

X2 as above but I was told it was due to "chirping" from belt.
There is a link below to give you some idea of lengths etc that maybe the gatorback supplier can cross reference from? There are two lengths which I assume is the standard (longer) one and the shorter (revised) one.
I swapped mine a couple of years ago from the long one to the short one but left the unused idler pulley bolted onto engine to use as a spare in an emergency. Hope this helps. Cheers, Steve

By the way Rupert, I would advise changing the tensioner while you are doing the belt. I didn't change mine at the time and then spent 2 years trying to find a rattle "underneath" my Jeep that ended up being caused by the belt tensioner!! Doh!! :smokin:

I have had trouble when at the parts store when I tell the guy behind the counter "Jeep Liberty with the 2.4 engine" They look at me sideways and then punch it in their computer. Try the internet if that's an option, if not try a year later or earlier then what your Liberty is or try the same year wrangler as the motor is identical. However in your case a quick internet search should give you a part number.

Hi, thanks for the help, but i now have the awnser.

The stock serpentine belt was a 6PK2330, but in 2007 things was changed at Chrysler due to noise and belt slip, and the belt route was change by removing the lower idler pulley and replacing the belt with a 6PK1930.

As i was told, but do no know for a fact, this was the case with the 2.5d , 2.8d , 3.7 , and for a fact the 2.4. Apparently they all use the same belt.
