I just took delivery of my first Jeep yesterday, a mint 02 KJ Sport.

LOVE everything about this 4X4, except driver's seat is REALLY :disgust: REALLY uncomfortable, and the rear seats don't fold flat. I can live with the rear seat thing, but not the driver's seat. It is way too hard, mis-shaped, and too short (I'm average height). It's like sitting on a paint can.

I've looked at related posts on this forum, and I've looked at the after-market seats (which are out of my price range since I spent everything on the KJ).

I'd really like to find a compatible & more comfortable seat from a different Jeep, or from an entirely different vehicle, without having to re-engineer the mounts and wiring.

Questions ...

Which Jeep models & years would be compatible?

Are there any other vehicle seats which could be converted without MAJOR problems? My butt would be most thankful if I could find a nice seat in a junkyard I could pop in there. This would also allow me to try out the seat for comfort before buying & installing.

Any suggestions?

Bob

Welcome to the site.

I sat in an 02 and it was more comphy than my 05 seat. Maybe the prior owner had a crooked butt or something? Is yours cloth or leather?

Find an 04 seat setup, they are more comfy than the 05-07 I've sat in and have a fold down seat.

Look for leather seats....if you like leather. Another option could be to refoam them, and then recover them with leather...

Welcome to the site as well...

Seat replacement

Thanks for the replies.

I now have cloth seats, but would much prefer leather.

I guess I'll start checking the local junkyards to see what I can find. I also need to replace the prop struts on the hood since it keeps falling on my head! Minor details.

Those are pretty inexpensive through RockAuto.com - under $15/each, if I remember correctly. I replaced the set on my Jeep last year.

Check your weckers, see if they have seats from an 02 Limited, generally they had electric hieght adjustment, and should be plug and play.
