it was never put on then...I had a CV joint replaced way back when so I assume they didn't put it on...I will order the new kit (https://www.driveshaftparts.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=174&product_id=978) and get'er done...thanks for everyone's help and advice...

Thing is that the rear and the front cv joints seem fine...no tears in the boots and they both move smoothly...like really smooth...there is a lot of vibration and chatter around 40 mph though and as soon as we removed the shaft no more noise...so one is going out it just isn't apparent which...

I pulled the front drive shaft today due to some noise and vibrations...everything quit afterwards but I have decided to leave it out and not replace it for the time being...are there covers that someone makes to keep road grime out where the shaft connects at front pumpkin and trans?
