got the battery hooked up and ran the winch to spool up the cable. now I need to figure out how to tie it down in the box. otherwise, lookling pretty good.
kid just discovered that for his 1999 dodge dakota 3.9L v6 5spd manual 3.55 geared 31" tired truck that:
he has a 20 gallon tank
his fuel gauge is accurate
he's getting 13.1mpg :D
could be an exhaust leak. mine developed a tick earlier this year, also from the driver's side. it's not a lifter tick I know that. it sounds more like exhaust. I need to get under there and see if a bolt/stud broke, or if it pushed the gasket out.

I'm wary of anything that calls itself "suitable substitute." Several manufacturers make ATF+4, so I'd say just get the "real" thing and be done with it.
It's also probably your power steering fluid and transfer case fluid. Chrysler "standardized" on it for a lot of applications.
