The battery is 4.5 years old and it is a good model. (They are retailing for over $400 today. :oops: ) My main problem is that before I sort of retired I worked from home. The previous batter died largely because I was never driving very much or very far and it didn't get charged on the road...- profdlp

Got my Jeep back yesterday. Now they claim it is the battery. I hope they are right but I have my doubts. I went with it because I was so frustrated that I was willing to try anything. I did make it home from the gym yesterday.- profdlp

All of the normal ones that briefly come on when you engage the starter. Generally, nothing at all. Once or twice (out of dozens of tries) it's like I get the teeniest beginnings of a crank. This lasts about 1/10 of a second. No, never did. I have not tried that. Approximately 90 minutes...- profdlp

My Jeep was looked at this morning and just like the last time it starts right up for the mechanic every time... I need to let them know something in the next hour or so. They offered to go ahead and replace the starter but are honest about the fact that they have no idea if it is necessary...- profdlp

Anyone know how to be sure your built-in theft protection isn't preventing the Jeep from starting. My battery is good, all the usual lights on the dash come on when I turn the key, the gas gauge moves from zero to whatever is in the tank (just over half for me right now), etc., but the starter...- profdlp
