    Biased, or don't care?

Not true. In the mid 1970s; Corvettes came with 225/70s on 15x8 rims. 235/70 on 8" rims are fine for the street, but I would not run them off-road.

    NSG370 6 speed manual

In Europe, our 2.8 liter diesel is offered in several Jeep models with the NSG370 6 speed manual that is/was offered with gasoline engines in Liberties in the USA. Has anyone investigated swappng a NSG370 into a CRD? Thank you Nigel

    What fits (wheels)

Unfortunately, there are some mistakes in the tire sizes, for example, the 235/65R17 is listed as 28" diameter, and it should be 29" diameter. But the diameter versus rubbing is good. So double check the actual diameter of the tires you plan on using.

Tire Sizes on Stock 2005 Liberty

There will be issues. See: http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Jeep_Liberty/Tires_%26_Rims - which has some errors in specific tire size, but if you look at diameter versus rubbing; it is good. 235/65R17 Overall Diameter: 29.02 in 737.10 mm 235/75R17 Overall Diameter: 30.87 in 784.09 mm...

    CV Joints

Anyone have CV joint(s) fail? Our '05 with less than 29K miles, seems to have one or more failed CV joints. When 4WD (Full/Part) is engaged, there is a very loud clicking once per tire revolution. It continues to click after shifting back into 2WD, but if we stop and back up a couple of...

Can I go off road with my buddy?

    1. AT is better on pavement - but for most people the MT is more than adequate. 2. depends on which tire you choose - big factor is tire weight and inertia (function of diameter and weight). 3. depends - on the road run higher pressure will help life, air down for off road use. 4. so..... 5...

Is a 3 ply sidewall really that important?

Unless you are going places with sharp rocks that may go through your side walls - save your money.

Is a 3 ply sidewall really that important?

No. For on-road use, you want the lower sidewall ply count. What works well off-road, often works poorly on road.

Best upgrades for a 4X4 liberty

Liberator A/T from Wal-mart. Inexpensive, last forever, very rugged. I have a set on my Ranger with over 40,000 miles on them, and discovered last week that they handle six inches of water very well.

rubicon rims / bf goodrich t/a's on the liberty

There is nominally a 10mm difference in width, but in reality there is about a ± 5mm tolerance on tire width, so a "wide" 235 could be the same width as a "narrow" 245. Same for overall diameter. Tire weight varies by manufacturer, and within the same size tire from different manufacturers...

Will New Tires Improve Wheel Slippage on 04 2WD Liberty?

Please note that Michelin owns BF Goodrich (and Uniroyal). I believe that you and your wife would be happy with the Michelin LTX M/S tires. Keep in mind, no matter what you do, the Liberty is not going to perform as well as a front wheel drive passenger car on the road - wet or dry.
