2004 Liberty need PID for trans temp with Torque Pro

I think I might have tried them, but I'll go back through them again, thanks for the suggestions! I have a thread going on in the Torque forum also, but have not had a response yet. We'll see what happens. I am running a big 3-core all aluminum radiator with the trans lines coming from the...

2004 Liberty need PID for trans temp with Torque Pro

So far I have tried all of those. Thank you for the links. I am getting a reading right now, but the equation/formula seems to be wrong. I just don't know what is going on, but was hoping I could get it to properly read the trans temps this way. Maybe that is going to end up wishful...

2004 Liberty need PID for trans temp with Torque Pro

Nothing? Really? I figured there were more than a few people using that. Ok, What are you guys using to read transmission temperatures through an OBD2 adapter? Usually, I am a gauge guy, but it's just a little too easy and cheap to read it through a phone app and the adapter, if possible...

Just Lost Engine get hot and has electrical problems

My posts here are given to hopefully assist OP in their troubles. I wasn't just dumping it here as a way to get that info out.

Just Lost Engine get hot and has electrical problems

As to the clutch on a clutch fan, let me explain how they work. The clutch is a lot like a torque converter if you understand those, fluid spinning to cause engagement. Actually, more like a harmonic balancer, viscous fluid. Dead cold it should engage about 25%, so if the engine spins 1000...

Just Lost Engine get hot and has electrical problems

I want to give a detailed explanation of why I think any KJ with the HD shroud, and no clutch fan, is a ticking time bomb on these engines and transmissions. I hope this helps anyone better understand our cooling system designs. First, let's address what I am talking about. The KJ's were...

Just Lost Engine get hot and has electrical problems

I think you're missing what I think is the most important part, without the clutch fan there is NO FAN COOLING the system until she gets up to 220 degrees. There is NO active cooling until she gets to 220. Anytime she is not moving she is climbing the temps. If you're fine with the engine...

Just Lost Engine get hot and has electrical problems

I agree, 228 is higher than I like to see anytime as well. Put the clutch fan on it if you do not have it. Without the clutch fan the system doesn't turn on any fans until 219 (low speed) and then 229 (I think, high speed). So, naturally the engine wants to run right up to 220 all the time...

2004 Liberty need PID for trans temp with Torque Pro

Hi guys and gals, I am trying to get transmission temperature through Torque Pro with an ELM327 OBD2 adapter. FTR, there are no codes being thrown at all, nothing, I have finally got it all fixed. I just want to track a few things, trans temp being one of them. It is running on the J1850...

    2004 Liberty running hot **SOLVED**

I thought I would give an update for those of you who were following my plight. The motor is getting swapped with a new one under warranty. They don't have one ready to go, so I am waiting on one being built right now. I bought a used trans out of a running liberty, 118,000. Taking a risk...

'04 Liberty overheating only when climbing

Well, it's the new motor, still under warranty, so she'll get fixed on a warranty dollar. Motor has about 8,000 miles

    2004 Liberty running hot **SOLVED**

I can only assume it must have happened right after I got the A/C system filled, which was about a month ago. First time my wife and I went out she got hot, I wasn't expecting it and it got past the 5/8 mark and creeping before I noticed. Ultimately, she went a bit past the 3/4 mark before...

    trans cooler

As to the pan, for those that aren't aware, the big benefit of a deep aluminum transmission pan is cooling. It adds more fluid into the transmission and the aluminum vs. steel will cool the fluid in the pan much more when driving, see the heat fins on it? Those two things (extra fluid and...

'04 Liberty overheating only when climbing

So, I got another thread going about my running hot issue, and it turns out the new motor has a head gasket leak or cracked head, causing the overheating. I had replaced the radiator after charging the A/C because she started running warm with the A/C on, then she kept taking coolant and...

    2004 Liberty running hot **SOLVED**

Just got her back from the shop. Failed the block test, she's got a leaking head gasket or a crack in a head. That would most definitely explain why she has taken more than 10 gallons of coolant (system should hold ~ 4.6 gallons with this radiator) with only dumping maybe 3+ of them on the...
